  • What does accessibility mean to you? To Liam, it means the freedom to learn and grow in his own way. Before Face control, Liam relied on a scribe to support much of his schoolwork. Now, he’s able to engage more independently in learning and everyday classroom moments. This #GAAD, we’re highlighting the incredible team at Black Gold School Division who helped Liam transition from complex switch systems to seamless learning on his Chromebook with Face control. • This is what powerful, student-centered learning can look like! 🙌 Julaan Govier is showing us exactly what it looks like to use AI tools to build deep, empathetic learning. By using Google NotebookLM as a research partner, Julaan’s students aren't just sifting through stats, they’re becoming advocates for our oceans. We’re so inspired by this approach that lets students take the lead and gives every learner a choice in how they share their message. Take a look at how Julaan is helping the students at LEO Academy Trust use these tools to dive deeper into the world around them. 📣

🌊 From Messages in a Bottle to AI Research Partners: A PedTech & UDL Journey 💻 How do we move beyond "tech for a tech sake" and truly use digital tools to deepen student empathy and agency? 🚀 🤔 Today, my students dived deep into the world of Hannah Gold’s "The Lost Whale". Our mission: becoming "Ocean Detectives" to investigate the threats facing our marine giants. 🐋 We took a hybrid, PedTech-first approach, underpinned by Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles. By providing multiple means of representation and expression, we ensured every child could access the "Message in a Bottle" 🍶from White Beak, the grey whale. 🛠 The Approach: High-Tech meets High-Touch Tactile Immersion: We started offline, sifting through "ocean water" to find microplastics and discovering a physical "Message in a Bottle" from a whale in distress. Digital Research Partners: Students leveled up their investigation by using Google Learning & Education NotebookLM as a research partner, navigating complex non-fiction texts to find "Shocking Statistics" on plastic pollution and destructive fishing and "Calls to Action". 💻 The Power of Choice (UDL): In the spirit of student agency, we allowed pupils to decide how they wanted to produce their work. Whether they chose the precision of Canva or the tactile creativity of paper and pens, the focus remained on the impact of their message. 📈 Professional Results, Only Two Lessons In: I am blown away by the output. Only two lessons into a two-week writing cycle, the children have already produced incredibly professional-looking persuasive posters. By integrating "Shocking Stats" with emotive calls to action, their work doesn't just look great—it carries a powerful, sophisticated message. The Result? Total engagement. Because students had the autonomy to choose their medium and the right tools to conduct deep research, they were fully invested. They haven't just learned about whales; they have become their voices. 📣 Next week, we take these posters and transform them into formal persuasive letters to humanity. ✍️✉ How are you using UDL to give students a choice in how they demonstrate their learning? • Higher ed research usually means a mountain of tabs and professors have seen how students can get overwhelmed by the noise. Instead of just handing over a shortcut, Rich Kiker is sharing how faculty can help higher ed students master AI tools for deeper learning. By using Google NotebookLM, you can guide your students to stay focused on vetted sources, move from passive reading to active self-testing, and truly engage with their materials. It turns that long list of PDFs into a personalized study suite and research partner. Help your students dive deeper: notebooklm.google

  • Teachers have always been incredible problem solvers, now they can build the solutions too. 👏 We’re spotlighting Gillian Ober, Rachel Kinsaul, and Acie Jo Sablan Cruz, three State Teachers of the Year who used Gemini and vibe coding to bring their classroom ideas to life in creative ways. From looking at equivalent fractions in a whole new way, to reimagining Macbeth through a culturally relevant lens, swipe to see what’s possible when educators combine creativity with the right tools.
