There are lots of us out there that love to have those little action figures that are of gaming personalities such as a Master Chief figure or a Link figure, but how would you like a action figure of your toon? Better yet, how much would you pay to have one made? There are stores that can create an action figure for you from images that you supply, unfortunately they are super expensive. So our topic this week is how much would you pay to have an action figure made of your toon?
The Vault Network is once again very excited to announce the launching of our latest site, Tabula Rasa Vault. Please take a moment and drop by to see what is going on with this highly anticipated game crafted by MMO legend Richard Garriott.
Wanna take a sneak peek into what some of the goodies in store for Issue 11 will look like? We happened to snag a few images, that you can find right here, that show off the new Dual Blades as well as the new Willpower. As well you can see the character customization screens where you can choose which type of swords you want to handle. Pretty friggin sweet if you ask me! You can view all the new Issue 11 screens in our gallery!
If this is not some kind of cruel joke, there will indeed be weapon customization in Issue 11!
"Sometimes an assault rifle just isnt the right tool for the job, or character, especially when he or she should be using a sniper rifle instead. Players can now change their weapons in the same way that they change their costume parts! From within the costume creator and tailor screen players select the new Weapons region. A number of new options are now available for appropriate power sets. Current power sets that benefit from this upgrade include Assault Rifle, Mercenaries/Assault Rifle, Bow, Broadsword, Claws, Villain Claws, Dual Blades (see below), Katana, Ninja Blade, Mace, Robotics/Pulse Rifle, and Thugs/Dual Pistols."
There will also be a Flashback system, whereby you can "travel through time and relive major events from the history of Paragon City and the Rogue Isles!"
And on top of this, New purple invention sets which are even more rare. This kinda scares me but hopefully they won't be too buff.
Ever have a tough time trying to think up a new name for your created hero? Well now there is a nifty tool that you can use to help you along. The Naminator can not only help you with Super Hero names, but it works for just about every other category as well! Now when you create a new character, you have no excuse for "Superdude." as a name! You can check out the Naminator right here!
It's hard to say exactly what this means, but with the recent wallpapers Cryptic released, it's starting to look to many people like Issue 11 will deal heavily with the prospect of alternate timelines.
Regarding the Willpower's visual impact, Back Alley Brawler had this to say:
"Much less than Super Reflexes."
He also had this to say:
"Hey guys, a couple of quick caveats to these screenshots.
1) These are mainly grabs from the activation or pulses of the the various toggle/click effects. The first screenshot is of the Tier 9 power. The 2nd is an activation effect from one of the toggles, and the 3rd is a random pulse that happens when one of the toggles are on. Overall, these really represent the MAOF (maximum avatar obscuring factor) you'll see from all of the Willpower FX. That's marketing for you.
2) There's really only one common visual effect for all of the toggle powers, and it's fairly subtle. There are different activation effects and some random pulse type effects here and there, but for the majority of the time you're running around with any of your toggles on you've got one persistent effect.
4) We'd already pretty much decided that what we have now is still too much. We still want this to be a defense set that is very minimally FX graphic intensive, but trying to find a delicate balance between having nothing at all and having functional indicators of what powers are active is tricky.
This is basically the first pass on these FX. We've still got closed beta and then open beta coming up. Plenty of time for everyone to get a good look at this set and its FX in game and make comments about it. Plenty of time for us to make multiple iterations and try to find a happy medium that will make everyone happy. "
For this weeks poll, we are asking you denizens of Paragon where you got your start. For some reason, every time I start a new toon, I always pick Atlas Park. Maybe it's the allure of Ms. Liberty, I don't know. So our question to you is when you start your toons, where do you pick to start? Atlas Park or Galaxy City? Hit the poll and let us know!
As for our last poll, we asked if you would like to see vehicles included in the game. Two thirds of you said you would like to see vehicles in the game and I am one of them! I actually picked the majority side this time. I think that's a first.
With the server transfer option looming after it was pulled recently, we here at the vault are wondering how many of you will be taking advantage of the program. Are you planning on forking over the $9.99 to pack up your belongings and move to another server and if so why? Which server are you thinking of leaving and which are you thinking of joining? Having my only 50 on Pinnacle, I just might have him pack a bag and head over to another server like Virtue for a bit and see how he likes it.
Not quite sure how I missed this news tidbit, but it seems the Character Transfer and Renaming program that was planned for the 19th has been delayed due to some unforeseen problems when it hit the live servers. As of right now there is no word on what the exact problem was except that there was an issue with the design of the system itself. They are trying to get it back online though as soon as possible however. You can read the full update here on the official forums.
To help get you geared up for the eventual release of Issue 11, the official City of Heroes site has released an Issue 11 wallpaper in a variety of different sizes. Although there really hasn't been much said about issue 11, the wallpaper hints at something quite - pardon the pun - cryptic. You can grab the wallpapers right here at the official site!
After the scheduled maintenance today - which was to start at 6am EST and is to end at 11am EST, the Character Rename and Transfer service will be implemented on to the servers. For those not familiar with what all the renaming and transfer of characters entails, you can check out this thread on the official forums. As well you can check out this thread for more information on the entire dealy with the server maintenance.
City of Heroes Player "The Defuser" has become the latest competitor to win on the SciFi Channels TV show "Who Wants to be a Superhero". The Defuser has apparently been a long time City of Heroes player and posts on the official forum under the name of Detective2416. Sadly - or not - depending how you look at it, I missed every episode of this show except for the first season. Congratulations to The Defuser but I'm sure he was no Fat Momma.
Cryptic patched the game today, the notes are as follows:
New Anti Chat-Spam Command
This version includes a new chat command.
/ignore_spammer
By using this command, a user will let our customer support know that they consider the person they added to their ignore list as one that is spamming. For example, if a player receives an in-game tell advertising for a real money trade web site, they can use the /ignore_spammer command, followed by the name of the character they received this advertisement tell from to put them on ignore.
Ideally, the user can then follow up with a /petition to also let us know of the disruptive behavior via that method.
Other Changes
Game
* Corrected an issue with a missing Arachnos Base Map. Players should now correctly enter the base, rather than the empty void of nothingness they may have experienced previously.
Our topic of the week this time around is concerning the User Interface for City of Heroes/Villains. Games Like WarCrack WarCraft have plenty of UI mods that allow the player to set up the UI to a more user friendly and more information at your finger tips kind of set up. Would you want a custom UI that incorporated more information for your City of Heroes gaming? I wouldn't mind one that would show where anyone on your friends list was on the map and not just team mates. That would be sweet. What say you? Anything you would like to see? Leave a comment and let us know!
If you have a dull and boring desktop and happen to forget what day of the month it is quite often, then we can help you kill two birds with one stone! If you are a frequent visitor to the site and would to give us a helping hand in getting everything up to date, then why not become a member of the staff? We are looking for some extra hands and dedicated people to help out with the databases and getting them up to speed with the current releases. Although the positions open are voluntary, you be the envy of all your friends and can finally show that girl who dumped you in high school how far you have come! Hit up our job page for more information on applying and positions that are open.
It's about that time for a new poll since the old one was getting a little stale and stinky. This time around we are asking you fine folks if you think vehicles would be groovin or not so much as travel powers. I myself am still wanting a pogo stick but others such as motorbikes and customized jetpacks could work as well. Let us know what you think and be sure to leave a comment on whether or not you would like to see vehicles as travel powers!
The poll results for the previous poll found - not surprisingly - that the majority of players did not think it was too early for Issue 10 to be released right after Issue 9.
A poster over on the official CoH forums, Mindripper had a chance to visit the Penny Arcade Expo - PAX - and was able to get the goods on some info for the upcoming Issue 11 release. Some of the juicy involves the 5th column, new power sets and level 50 activities. You can check out the thread right here!
