IGN.com UK have released yet another smashing MoTB demo trailer, this time titled "Monster Mash". The range of "Mashing" goes from a fighter to a spellcaster, and there are some sweet looking weapons visable too! Hop on over and download it today! For those of you who can't wait, here is the trailer for your viewing pleasure.
Shane K. DeFreest posted the latest NX1 Community update to the BioWare forums and we've added the NX1 Community Update #10 (Countdown) to our NWN2 Articles section. The subject of this Q&A; is Companions and there are approx 16 questions from the community answered. Companion conversation trees are much more polished, both updating as events unfold and also with the degree and depth throughout gameplay. While you won't be able to have all the companions with you at the same time, they will all be available by the second chapter, plus the AI has improvements which we have seen in recent patches. The new influence system only affects MoTB and sadly cannot be used in the OC, but you will have more control over customization options for the companions. To read more pop over here!

Forest Prefab XXL by Registerdebakel(Exterior : Forests) - A 32x32 forest area. Created with MOTB Toolset Patch 1.10. Do not scout the area with an unarmed level 1 character. Check out the screenshots for some first impressions. There are some little problems (objekt posstions & walkmeshes) left, however the map is developed far enough to have it's first release. Have a walk and enjoy :) Registerdebakel/Adrieann/RPG-Jack

Shane K. DeFreest - NWN2 Community Manager, Maverick Public Relations -
Countdown Community Update: Companions First off thanks for all your questions last week. We will have a new topic up shortly. But in the meantime Obsidian Associate Producer, Nathanial Chapman once again dishes out some dirt on your companion related questions.
Enjoy!
Countdown Community Topic #3: Prestige Classes As we get ever closer to the full release of the game we decided to reach out to the community. So for this weeks topic we asked our friends at Neverwinter Vault for suggestions and the answer they came back with was Prestige Classes. So that's the topic this week prior to the release: Prestige Classes.
Obsidian gets a bit jumpy about the release date, since Internationalizing seem to take some time, so they schedule the release in Europe to Oct. 9th.
However, things are better than it seems, and the voice recording etc. is wrapped up before anticipated. The game goes gold and is sent to be mass produced.
The European retailers/distributors are more than happy to sell the earlier, but the US retailers/distributors have already committed themselves to Oct. 9th and won't change it.
So, Obsidian would certainly like to sell their US customers the game, but the distribution apparatus behind that has to do is not willing.
Think on the bright side - now you will have less time to play before the first MotB fixes arrive, and most of the showstoppers have already been found, and perhaps workarounds developed, by the Europeans.
Actually, Obsidian has nothing to do with the release dates. We deliver the game to the publisher and they decide when to release in any given market.
Custom Classes We actually ask the community to check things because there are often multiple ways to implement something. What works for us may not work for you, because, aside from hardware, software and configuration differences, you do it a different way.
Either way, this issue appears to be fixed, so I will unsticky it.
This is kind of a general reply to the other posts about epic level PrCs, epic BAB progression, etc.
First, thanks everyone for your comments and love of NWN and D&D.; [Many of us love D&D;, too. (I currently play 3.5 in three different campaigns, including Living Greyhawk.)]
In designing and implementing NWN2/MotB, we deviate from D&D; for two reasons:
1. Strictly following the D&D; rules would be less fun in NWN2 (often because of the differences between a turn-based pencil and paper RPG versus a semi-real time computer RPG) - whether it's for game balance reasons or user interface reasons or whatever.
2. Strictly following the D&D; rules (or implementing some specific feature) would be very time consuming, which means we can make the game better by taking some liberties with the rules (or not pursuing a specific feature).
With every decision, we weigh the benefits and disadvantages of the options we can think of, then make the call as to what we think will give you the greatest entertainment value. (Of course, the time we spend analyzing and making decisions takes away from the time we spend actually making the game. So it's all a balance, with our goal always being providing the best gaming experience we can.) Comments and suggestions on the forums are one of the many factors that affect the decisions we make.
We do the best we can. Our decisions aren't perfect and certainly won't make everyone happy all of the time.
Any adjustments or additions we made to D&D; 3.5 rules were discussed with WotC and approved by them. In fact, in some cases, WotC even suggested deviations to improve upon current D&D; rules.
To briefly answer the specific question posed in this (and the related) post, we didn't implement epic levels for prestige classes because we didn't feel the overall entertainment value would be worth the programming and design resources required to do so properly. (Not everything is as straightforward to implement as it may at first seem.) Yes, we knew that some would be displeased with this decision.
I can definitely understand displeasure with some of our decisions and certainly different people would make different choices. I just hope that you understand that our goal is to provide the best gaming experience we can. If something we've decided to do (or not do) upsets you, we understand and feel bad about that. Really. If we could, we'd love to make the perfect game for everyone who plays it.
Ok, I tried the "Center on Character thing" and it didn't fix the problem! If I move the mouse to the edge of the screen it now just shifts the camera left or right instead of turning around the character. The only way I can get the camera to tuen is by holding the CTRL key down while I also push the arrow key. I have tried turing on and off all of the camera adjustments in both Strategic mode and CHaracter mode. No difference.
In strategy mode, in the options, the upper left corder has an option that says something like "scroll camera". Uncheck that and, if you have your camera set to center on the camera, it should then rotate.
If it seems the option doesn't take hold, press the * key a couple times.
Expecting your customers to always be polite and professional, no matter how disappointed they are with your product, is unrealistic. Expecting you to always be polite and professional to customers, however, is just a standard and reasonable expectation for anyone working in the customer service industry. The two roles aren't remotely the same. Hence why working in customer service is one of the worst jobs in the world. Or any job where you deal with the unforgiving masses.
When you signed up you agreed to behave when posting on these forums. Everyone agreed to it when they signed up, if they dont follow the forum rules they get spanked.
If people want to debate this take it to pms, lets not clutter this thread.
This discussion is off-topic. I disagree that forum posters should be expected to behave poorly. I think that is just an excuse.
But, as I said, if you have an issue with me, please send me a PM and we will work it out. I am very open to discussions such as that.
While it is easy to say it is a sequel, I think, since it doesn't really continue the story and starts fresh, I would call it more of a reinvention.
Because you have different developers working on it, you will not get the same feel from NWN2 that you had in NWN1. You will have a different "chemistry" because the writers and designers are different. Much like when a new team takes over a comic book series.
I have always felt that Obsidian's games deal with darker themes than Bioware's do. So, I think to say it is a different game is probably closer to the mark than to call it a sequel.
Use of the MoTB Forums Just so everyone is clear, this forum is for spoilers and discussion of the MoTB campaign.
General discussion of NWN2 and MoTB should take place in the General Forums, not in here.
More: Working on it. For now, some mixing of posts may happen in here sine the game is not fully released yet. Once the American version is launched, we will become a bit stricter. Then once the Aussie version is launched, look out boy!
Also, Bioware's web team is a little swamped now so once some time opens up, there will be some changes.
There are some things you can do that may work. One of them is making sure you have no CD-emulation software on your computer. Test that and see if that helps.
Other than that, I cannot tell you other things that circumvent copy protection/SecuRom.
I had suggested earlier to go to the SecuRom website as they have diagnostic tools there that can help you through many common issues.
If you do that, send me a PM and let me know what their reports tell you. We may be able to do something with that.
weapons and armor For the armor, you'd need three new strings: armor name (Name), armor stats (BASEITEM), and generic armor description (DESCRIPTION).
If you copied the "light" mace entry, you could modify the damage range to create a heavy mace. The three strings you'd need to add are the weapon name (Name), weapon stats (BaseItemStatRef), and generic description (Description). It would still use the Mace line of weapon feats, unless you wanted to get fancy and create custom Heavy Mace feats.

...and if any of you Bioware Main people would like to attend as a guest speaker or so, we will have close to 6 diffrent role playing servers attending which scares the crap out of me but hey, good ideas need testing.
Probably easier to just hold an IRC chat session on Neverwinter Connections so everyone can join and not be limited by one server's player limit.
A Visit To Fennvale by Zejan the Wonder Monkey(Other) - Please Note: This is a partly-completed module for BETA TESTING ONLY! Now in a .ZIP format, many apologies to those pioneers who had to slog through the looooong d/l of the unzipped version.
A visit to a village named Fennvale draws the player(s) into a mystery surrounding the village mine. Several side quests as well. WARNING: Some adult content/mature dialog. Players under 18 should not d/l this mod.
Please read the RTF before playing.
Fallen Wonders by Frudillao(PvP) - This is just a MOD I made for a pure PVP server. It has some scripts but not a lot. I grabbed some from the vault. It just needs a bounty system, legendary level system, and maybe more areas. Do what you want with it as long as you say I'm the original creator (Frudillao). It's a good design, monsters are fairly balanced. It's designed mainly for PVP but can be used for RP if more areas and scrips are put in...

Inverted Daggers Override by Ahnìon(Animations) - If necessity is the mother of invention, then irritation is a hit'n'run father. With the release of MotB, using dual daggers became so appealing that I couldn't help myself but create a character aiming for the Invisible Blade prestige class. However, every time I played it, the standard dual-sword animations irked the living, er, braziers out of me. I kept thinking that if you just inverted
MWM Skull Towershield Hak by MWMDragon(NWN2 Model Contest) - This is my Submition to the NWN2 Model Contest. A custom modeled tower shield and texture. it can be found in the towershield apperance area. Put this file into your hak folder to access this ingame and in the toolset. Silver Hold by SeanCaldecott(Exterior : Other) - This is a 3 tier Hold with transitional towers from level 1-2 and 2-3(ramps wouldnt do ;]). note: the hold is intended to have an underground tunnel for means of extra supply (other than the pickup crane at the front) and is also meant to be guarding a trade route through the valley.
IGN.com UK have published their Neverwinter Nights 2 Mask of the Betrayer Peek #2, which you can find here. They have 4 screenshots 2 of which we've added to our screenshot Gallery. The article tells us about "Ashenwood", and one of the shots clearly shows a Treant! Here is an excerpt:
A day's ride southward from Rashemen's capital city of Immilmar, set flush against the ice-encrusted shores of Lake Ashane, lies the Ashenwood, an ancient evergreen forest almost perpetually blanketed in snow, and nearly untouched by humankind.
There are rumors that blight has taken hold in a major portion of the forest, and that its spread is rapid and without apparent cause. Elsewhere, a wildfire rages and refuses to die
Rashemen is known broadly as a land rich with spirits, and in few places is the spirit population more numerous than in the Ashenwood. Those who die defending Rashemen, be they man or beast, may return as telthors - fearsome and powerful guardian spirits - so that they might continue to protect the land in death. For many of these telthors, the Ashenwood is a haven where they may exist in peace and relative seclusion, awaiting the day when their homeland is threatened and they are called upon to fight for it as they did in the past.

So MoTB over 1.6 is fine, but over fresh install it makes bugs?
Is there any way how to solve this without need of dowload few hundred MB of patch files?
If not I realy hope you make some fix for us Euros, which will solve that issue, because having to do the whole procedure everytime when switching to new machine is kinda pain in the ***
I changed 3 or 4 machines from the day I started to play NWN1 for example
EDIT: And I also love to reinstall a lot which can cause some pain with installing aswell, especially when you are doing it in the "format c: d: e: f: g:" or FDISK way
I believe the plan is to get a patch out that will allow you to install NWN2, install MoTB then install a single patch, but I am not 100% sure.
but comments apart from a few "fanboy" types seem to be generally negative or neutral.
So, are you trying to say that if it is a good comment, it is coming from a "fanboy"?
That is the equivalent of saying negative comments only come from trolls or haters.
Just because someone has a different opinion than you, does not give you the right to insult them with the use of "fanboy" - which is obvious you are using it in a derrogatory manner.
State your opinion and disagree with others. But do not comment on other community members, and definitely do not call them names, even in passing reference. The same goes for those people that have a more positive point of view.
Im thinking I will wait about 6 months before getting this expansion. Way too many issues here. I would also ask of the devs not to be rude to their customers. Some of the replies from Rob here could get him fired if this was a person to person conversation at a store helpdesk. I for one wouldn't come back.
If I have offended anyone, I offer my sincerest apologies. It was not intended. I am hoping that you are only misinterpreting something I have said in jest, which is often the case in online communication, since, unlike face-to-face communication you cannot see a person's expressions. If you feel offended by something I have said, feel free to send me a PM on it and we will work it out.
However, I will also say that at an in-store help desk, the customer does not have the right to be rude or insulting either.
It goes both ways and, like I expect the community members to be respectful of the devs and each other, I and other devs should be respectful of you.
I definitely agree the problematic patch route should have been removed long ago.
I also agree a single 1.00 to current version should be the patch route (yes, that's how NWN1 handles it).
Do I think a critical rebuild is vital? Probably not, but would be nice to have.
However, something is fishy here when we talk about the data size of a critical rebuild. I just checked the NWN1 critical rebuild for 1.68 and it's size is 74 megs. Now, yes, NWN2 has much larger data sizes, but it's not that much bigger. NWN1 installed with all expansions is about 4.65 gigs. NWN2 installed with both expansions is about 8.8 gigs. So, how can NWN1 provide a critical rebuild patch for 4.65 gigs of data that weighs 74 megs and NWN2 can't build a critical rebuild patch for 8.8 gigs of data that's somewhere around 150 - 300 megs in size?
What's the difference?
I don't have all of the answers, but the critical rebuild for NWN2 would have to include modules as well, which are sizeable, and extra EXEs for 64bit systems.
I just did a fresh install of NWN2 on an new machine and the updater patched it to 1.09. Now, I haven't heard anything about a 1.09 patch level so what gives.
I am installing from a DVD DL version.
Any Advice?
I believe you are looking at the version of the launcher, not the game.
Sorry, there is no way to use the Tome of Profane Rebirth to become a lich.
And it's not for Brandon's lack of trying.
Changing Alignments If you right click on a player or NPC, you will see a blank entry on the context menu (this is a bug). Click on that and it will bring up the interface.
Rob once "defended" such by posting that it was mostly the fault of the "complainers" who posted, due to the vitrolic in their posts. Lord Sullivan blasted that post in a rebuttal, and I researched the issue myself (and it was a horrid thing, using the search option on the NWN2 forums is...it is just horrid, believe me). I must say that after all my research, though Rob does have a point about some of the vitrolic in some of the complainer posts, by far Lord Sullivan was correct - the Over-feverant Ones tend to jump on anything that remotely looks, smells, or tastes like a complaint.
Patently wrong, Mr. Webshaman.
What I have said in the past, and what I will state time and time again, is that there is just as much vitriol on the "anti-NWN2" side as there is on the "pro-NWN2" side. In fact, I believe my words were "Neither side is innocent."
I also said that there has been anti-NWN2 sentiments since before the game was released, just as there has been pro-NWN2 sentiments.
I have also said that voicing your concerns and issues in a respectful and responsible manner is very welcome and, in fact, encouraged. It's why we post the feedback threads. Vitriol and hyperbole, however, is not welcome. Insulting the devs or other community members is definitely not welcome.
But, if you post something insulting or vitriolic, do not be surprised if you are met in kind by someone with an opposing view. This is the internet.
However, and this is the important part, both transgressors will be dealt with in an equal way. I have a no tolerance rule when it comes to personal insults, but other than that, based on your forum history and how you deal with the moderators, you will be dealt with exactly the same as someone with an opposing view.
But, as always, if you have an issue with how the forums are moderated, you can contact me or Chris Priestly of Bioware.
