AoC Wins 'Best Online Game' in Leipzig! posted by Jube at 11:58 AM
Durham, USA – August 24th, 2007 – Funcom and Eidos’ highly anticipated massively multiplayer online game ‘Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures’ has been awarded the prestigious, official ‘Best Online Game of the Show’ award at the Games Convention in Leipzig, Germany. The trade show is one of the largest gaming conventions in the world and by far the largest in Europe, with all of the major upcoming game titles represented.

The award was won in competition with online games from all genres and across all platforms, and was presented by a jury consisting of gaming industry press and mainstream press.

Funcom and Eidos are also very proud to have won the OMEGA award for “Best Online Game”, presented by a German online games magazine association made up of the most important gaming media in Germany; including two of the largest gaming web sites. Other nominees for this award included: ‘Warhammer Online’, ‘Hellgate: London’ and ‘Unreal Tournament 3’.

“This is a great honor to everyone working on ‘Age of Conan’,” says Funcom CEO Trond Arne Aas. “These awards really show that our massive efforts are paying off and that the public, the press and the industry are recognizing the very strong qualities of the game.”

Funcom Friday: From Leipzig posted by Jube at 08:12 AM
As Funcom gets ready to wrap things up at Leipzig GC, they write from the event to recap some of the action and let Age of Conan fans know what type of response the game has been getting.

One of the biggest questions we've gotten is “How are people liking the game?” MMO players are loving it, by all accounts. We even had one guy in the booth who ignored the rest of the convention, light show, booths, and girls, and played Age of Conan for six straight hours. That's six hours, on his con-weary feet, playing our game. That's a pretty cool feeling.
In addition to the great fan response, they've been nominated for a couple of awards. Read all about it!

    We play Capture the Flag

One of the first dates on the Games Convention had the buffed team with the Product manager of Age OF Conan, Erling Ellingsen. It has Oli, Flo, Matze and Marcel one a-clicks into the Capture the flag mode (one played “3 against 3”) given. Erling means, it is a Minigame, the whole was obviously much straightforward. One can announce oneself probably - completely as to the PvP in World OF Warcraft - for such a match. If enough players for a match together are, the play begins.

Beside “Capture the flag” mentioned Erling also still the play mode “team Annihilation”, in which probably the team with the last living character wins.

Apart from the fact one took and revises themselves the past criticism at the combat system to hearts the combat system. Marcel reports that the new variant is inserted as Work in progress version obviously already. One selects oneself first a Combo, then the flapping directions flash, into which one must aim then. The presentation ran by the way directly at the conditions - more photos finds you on the official Age OF Conan web page of the Norwegian developers Funcom.

Back in Time: E3 2007 Video Interview posted by Jube at 05:32 AM
G4TV has just posted a video from E3 2007, featuring Jorgen Tharaldsen (and his slave girls) talking about Age of Conan with some sweet in-game footage running in the background. One of the things he mentions is their hope for a long life for Age of Conan (5-10 years) and to keep exploring the world over said years (presumably through a number of expansions). Developers on Games Conference 2007 posted by Jube at 05:16 AM
RPG Vault asks game developers what they'll be up to in Leipzig for this year's GC. Those that replied include Jorgen Tharaldsen of Age of Conan, Jeff Hickman of Warhammer Online, Starr Long of Tabula Rasa, Arend Stuhrmann of EVE Online, and several others. Jorgen Tharaldsen talks about the fact that E3 was a let down and expresses his excitement for GC 2007. He'll be working with the Age of Conan demo and dealing with the press at the event.

We've really put a lot of punch into the stand, content and entire set-up, so I hope it will be a success. I know we're up against stiff competition, but hope what we have will set us apart. That's the plan at least. ;) We have even built an entire fort where people can play the game on the floor, and as fitting for a Conan game, we have some sexy babes. :) In addition, as always, there are many other meetings and general stuff, so I think it's safe to say this year's show will be hectic.
Also check out Developers at Games Conference 2007 - Part 1 for comments from Bill Roper of Hellgate: London and many more.
