Nethaera from Blizzard shares some thoughts about Blizzard's stance in terms of PvP vs PvE in Arena...
We are going to continue to develop both PvP and PvE content. PvE isn't being phased out for Arenas. These sorts of debates between PvP and PvE are inevitable given the nature of trying to balance two aspects of the game that some people feel conflict with each other. Some people don't care for PvP and some don't care for PvE but the availability of both is still there for everyone.
We try to cater gear for PvP or PvE as we feel is most beneficial as well. While there are some pieces of gear that people may find in PvE encounters that are viable for PvP, we don't want to make it so that people that don't wish to PvE don't have to do it in order to be competitive. We want to continue to make it beneficial for people to do what they enjoy (either PvP or PvE) in order to get the gear they want/need to continue enjoying themselves and being competitive.
Salthem from Blizzard wanted to get this information out to the crowds...
In the next major content patch the following items will be flagged as Bind on Pick-up (BoP). They are currently not bound at all so if you possess some of these items, be sure it's on the character of your preference.

Here is something interesting that was sent in today. Seems like a Chinese font supplier is suing Blizzard for using their font in the game. Go check it out...
Beijing Founder Electronics Co Ltd said yesterday it has sued US game company Blizzard Entertainment over alleged copyright infringement of its fonts. The case is the latest in a string of lawsuits launched by Chinese companies against US firms recently as the rift over intellectual property rights protection continues.
Beijing High People's Court has accepted Founder Electronics' case. Founder Electronics is asking for compensation of 100 million yuan for the alleged infringement - the largest amount claimed by a Chinese company in a copyright case.
Founder Electronics, a wholly owned subsidiary of Founder Group, is the nation's largest font supplier and has developed hundreds of multi-language fonts that are widely used in the country. It alleges its fonts were illegally used in Blizzard's popular online game World of Warcraft.
Blizzard is happy to announce that they are now able to accept PayPal payments for World of Warcraft subscriptions. Both current and new subscribers can now assign their PayPal account as their automatic payment method on the Account Management page.

Drysc from Blizzard gives a little comment in reply to the question, "where's the Matchmaking System?" in the battlegrounds, have a listen...
It's in there, it's just extremely laid back in how picky it is, or in other terms: it's not going to take a long time to match people up. There aren't a very large number of players participating in battlegrounds at all times, at least not enough to tighten up the settings. We don't want to tune the system so that it's matching people really well at say... prime time on an AV weekend, and then have someone wanting to play on a Wednesday night at 4AM have to wait an hour or two to find a match.
So there's really a couple contributing factors. Really first and foremost the only way we're going to be comfortable tuning the system to start forcing more specific matchups is if there's a larger number of consistent players interested in the battlegrounds. That is mostly based on the battlegrounds themselves, new battlegrounds coming, and probably ultimately how well they're incentivized. All things we're aware of, and all things that (AV changes, AFK reporting, queue changes, new battlegrounds, new rewards) we're seeing come to a solution at a single point on the horizon.
Even at some point in the future where we could potentially pull the reins in a whole lot, and attempt to force extremely specific matchups, it's never going to be perfect. I don't believe we would ever get to the point where we're going to make you wait indefinitely just so that you never see a twink again, or a premade team, or someone with better gear than yourself. At that point you wouldn't care who you're up against, you just want to get in and get your mark, or get what honor you can. Getting in and fighting in a lopsided battle IS better than not fighting at all.
It is working though, and loosely matching players up very quickly. It's one of those invisible under-the-stage mechanics though that you could easily assume does nothing at all unless it's perfect.
Kotaku is reporting something off-the-cuff today, though its not really news but rather a goof. It seems the WoW porn queen from World of Whorecraft video fame was booted from the game, check it...
Mia Rose, hardcore gamer and pornstar, who appeared in several episodes of World of Whorecraft, told Kotaku that she was banned from the World of Warcraft over the weekend after a fan recognized her and mentioned her webiste in a public chat channel.
Rose, who played a randy elf in a couple of Whorecraft episodes a year ago, said she was banned after a fellow gamer recognized her on the Mai' Ganis server and mentioned the starlet's site in a barter chat room.
"After someone said I had a bad nose, this was randomly it happens a lot, I responded 'Hey, learn hot to search, stop using Google, go to Myspace or something, I've had a noise job'" she said. "The person then typed MIAROSE*****.com ZOMFG."
About ten minutes later Rose received a message from a GM saying she was suspended. She hasn't been able to get a hold of the Blizzard folks to try and clear it up.
Nethaera from Blizzard posted this Voice Chat FAQ for everyone, check it....
Q: What is the new voice chat feature in World of Warcraft? A: The voice chat feature is the proprietary in-game voice communication system for World of Warcraft. It allows World of Warcraft players to communicate with each other using a simple-to-use interface that is seamlessly integrated with the game.
Q: Is the voice chat feature free? A: There is no additional charge to use the voice chat feature; it is included with your monthly subscription fee.
Q: How does the voice chat feature work? A: The voice chat feature is fully integrated within World of Warcraft. You can enable voice chat by accessing the sound options screen and turning it on. When enabled, it can be configured to transmit your voice either whenever you speak or only while you hold down a button. You can also use it to listen to other players without transmitting your own voice.
Q: Can I speak in more than one channel at a time? A: While you can join multiple chat channels, you can only have voice chat enabled in one channel at a time. You can switch voice chat between channels by using the new chat interface found in the social window, or by clicking on the voice chat options button located near the mini-map.
Q: Why did you choose to implement voice chat? A: Since launching World of Warcraft, we have made a number of improvements to the interface to offer players more convenience and ease of use. The voice chat system is another such feature. It is simple to use and fully integrated into World of Warcraft, making it that much easier for players to communicate with each other.
Q: Can I still use third-party voice chat programs with World of Warcraft? A: Yes, you can still use third-party voice chat programs while the integrated voice chat is disabled. However, World of Warcrafts voice chat feature allows you to use a simple system built into the games user interface rather than toggling between multiple programs. Additionally, the voice chat feature in World of Warcraft displays who is speaking at any given time directly in the game interface.
Q: Will I be able to customize voice chat through World of Warcraft, or is it accessed via the account management webpage? A: You can access the voice chat options via the in-game options menu. The parental control options of the voice chat feature are accessible via the parental control system located on the official World of Warcraft website.
Q: As a parent or guardian, how can I control my childrens access to the voice chat feature? A: Parents and guardians have the ability to manage voice chat via the parental control system found on the official World of Warcraft website. You can turn voice chat off entirely or allow your children to listen but not speak in voice chat. The voice chat feature defaults to off. If parental controls are enabled on an account, you will need to turn on voice chat via the parental control system (found in the account-management section of WorldofWarcraft.com) before it can be used in the game.
In an effort to apply some of our upcoming 2.2 changes in a more expedited manner, we're hotfixing some elements of the Archimonde encounter. Not every planned change to Archimonde could be hotfixed, the other announced changes will occur with the release of patch 2.2.
The following hotfix changes are now live: - Archimonde now casts fear in a bit more consistent manner, roughly every 40 seconds. - Fear's cast time is now 1.5 seconds. - Grip of the Legion now has only a 60 yard range. - Red Soul Charge now only silences players for 4 seconds.
The planned changes for Mother Shahraz could not be hotfixed, but we are working to resolve via hotfix the timing issue with Essence of Desire's Rune Shield and Spirit Shock. Working on that fix, we discovered that Rune Shield wasn't actually absorbing any damage. We're also working to fix that error. Since the Rune Shield is normally removed quickly, Essence of Desire still won't get much benefit out of the effect. Mages who Spell Steal the effect will be quite a bit happier, however.
Blizzard makes us aware of some Extended Maintenance today...
