Autobot Menace! In a strange coincidence, I got taken out of action for a little over a week by a minor car accident. I'm nearly certain that I saw the Autobot insignia on the offending vehicle.

Five More Issues Of Transformers: Spotlight Planned 4:35 PST | DennisFarrell | Print News A forum post by IDW's Editor-In-Chief Chris Ryall has revealed that the popular comic series Transformers: Spotlight will not end with the recently unveiled issue centering on Ramjet. According to the post, at least five more installments are in the works.
Also exciting: at Comicon, Simon [Furman] and I figured out three more Spotlights to come (someone else might write the other two in the next set of 5). I'm not saying who just yet but I encourage guessing...
In the very same thread, Ryall also posted a spiffy piece of teaser art from the Ramjet issue.

Transformers Animated Figure Gallery 5:02 PST | DennisFarrell | Print News In more Transformers Animated news, TFormers.com has put together a great gallery of action figures based on the upcoming animated series. More Transformers Animated Footage 4:48 PST | DennisFarrell | Print News A five-minute clip from Transformers Animated looped in the background of a Comic Con autograph session, and against all odds one of the convention's attendees had a camera to record it. The video, which is up on YouTube, features the Autobots on a mission on an asteroid of some sort and gives us a sample of the cartoon's transformation sound, which will be analyzed and debated more than the Zapruder film.

First Footage From Transformers Animated 5:28 PST | DennisFarrell | Print News A video of Transformers Animated was shown during Hasbro's Comic Con panel, and Entertainment News International was there to record it. This isn't a ten second teaser, either. The clip introduces all the main characters and displays their weapons (including Prime's cool booster-powered plasma axe... thing), then goes on to several fully voiced scenes including lots of bad guys. Check it out here!
Towards the end of the video you'll see some still shots of what are either action figures from the series or the cgi renders they used to design the toys. You know, just in case someone didn't know there would be action figures to go along with a Transformers cartoon.
Transformers Comic UK #2's Cover Unveiled 7:32 PST | DennisFarrell | Print News Transformers @ The Moon has posted the cover for Transformers Comic UK #2, which features Megatron leaping toward the reader. You'd think that would scare away potential customers, but I guess they know what they're doing. The scan also reveals that the second issue's pack-in prize is a set of Transformers tattoos. Slap some of those on your guns and you'll be the manliest man in the comic shop for as long as you can put off taking a shower.

Mark Ryan Interview 18:20 PST | DennisFarrell | Print News The Comic Fanatic has interviewed Mark Ryan, the actor who voiced Bumblebee in the Transformers movie. Amazingly enough, Bumblebee was originally planned to be mute:
TCF: You mentioned that you initially were hired to be the presence and the voice for the Transformers. How did all of that work get narrowed down to just Bumblebee in the finished product?
Mark Ryan: Bumblebee didn't talk in the version of the script I was working from on the set. I knew this because I'd voiced the scene during filming when the Autobots discussed how he'd lost his voice. In the post production phase, Michael (Bay) would often throw in new dialogue ideas, especially humor and just say: Try it like this or just say that! During one of these sessions, Michael gave me some new dialogue that I'd never seen before and we just played around with it. We tried several character voices, as I recall. I wasn't sure how it would be used, but obviously knew the Bumblebee back-story, so it set me free to voice it with an understanding of the emotional weight of the character and the dramatic effect it might have at that moment in the movie.
Thanks to Seibertron for originally reporting on the interview, which is available here.
If you are on the hunt for a playable companion piece to the Transformers film, you would do better to pick up literally any other version of this game. None of the other versions are exactly good, but at least they aren't as tediously boring as the PSP game.
According to their review database, the 4/10 score that the game received makes it slightly worse than Ghost Rider. If you prefer to look at the bright side of things, take solace in the fact that it's a little bit better than Pimp My Ride.
Transformers: The Game Continues To Surprise 4:18 PST | DennisFarrell | Print News Last week we reported that Transformers: The Game for the PC worked its way up from being the eighth best-selling computer game to the #6 spot. According to the newest NPD Group numbers, the movie tie-in has continued to gain momentum, beating out the entire line of perennial sales chart fixtures from the Sims franchise to become #4 on the list.
Now the only titles ahead of Transformers: The Game are World Of Warcraft, WoW: The Burning Crusade and Nancy Drew: The White Wolf Of Icicle Creek. Unless Nancy teams up with World Of Warcraft for a new expansion, Transformers might have a shot at breaking the top three if sales continue their current trend.
