Interplay was founded in 1983, and made its name with the Bard's Tale series, the Fallout series, and Baldur's Gate. Other notable titles include Sacrifice, the Descent series, and Virtual Pool. Interplay also created titles for gaming consoles such as the Dreamcast, PlayStation, and Nintendo 64.
In May 2000, Interplay was purchased by French publisher Titus. Although Titus chairman and CEO Herve Caen became president of Interplay, Brian Fargo stayed on as chairman and CEO.
