Its a bummer that Blizzard chose not to incorporate any new classes into the game along with the new races. The new races now give both factions the ability to access all of the classes in the game, which feels like a cop-out, and removes much of the differentiation between the Alliance and the Horde. Both of the new races (Draenei and Blood Elves) have their own new low-level zones and capital cities, but ultimately end up running through the same content everyone else has been doing for years.
The saying "If it aint broke, dont fix it comes to mind when I think about The Burning Crusade, and in that sense, Blizzard has done well. Then again, wheres the honor in charging forty dollars to not fix something that wasnt broken?
Sure, you get a new continent, ten levels to gain, and hundreds of quests, but compared to EVE Onlines upcoming free expansion (which includes a total graphical overhaul) its easy to be a bit under-whelmed, and feel a bit overcharged. About as easy as, oh, playing WoW until 4:30 a.m. on a workday. Trust me, thats easy. Well just have to hope Blizzard uses our newly spent millions to get Worlds of Starcraft up and running. Until then, well see you at 70.
We are aware that certain realms are experiencing performance issues such as continent crashes, "world server down" errors, and instance crashes, primarily during peak hours. Were monitoring these realms very closely and have already applied various fixes, and additional fixes are being tested as we speak. As always, we appreciate your patience and support with these issues; we'll continue to provide updates as more information becomes available.
Remorseless Attacks should affect Hemorrhage. There is an active bug with this talent. The tooltip is correct, but the effect is not being applied. This is being worked on currently and will show up in a future patch.
You aren't running queries to the server for characters you aren't logged into. So, while 'space' is part of the issue, it isn't the whole of it. Inventory is one of the first and most serious considerations and debates between a programmer and a designer. The programmer knows how repeated and large searches of a database are going to crush performance, which inventory does very well (thousands of players gaining, losing, equipping or swapping items). The designer wants to allow players enough room for their customized character. They invariably cross paths over this.
With that being said, it is not in your best interest to issue vague demands about physical limitations of technology. If you think saying "it takes up too much server space" is counter-productive, then I would simply retort that it is also counter-productive to insist that you can change such a complex but real situation by wish or demand alone.
A hotfix has come through today about this issue. Gas masks should now be re-obtainable from Wildlord Antelarion, so that the quest has a path for completion even after an initial failure.

What better way to share the sights of Outland than to send a friend our cool new World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade E-Card. This new e-card shows the sights of Outland with a bird's eye perspective as you fly over the remains of Draenor. Take a moment to send it to a friend!
I can confirm that this is not true. I took the time to ask the development team directly who double-checked the data to make sure something unexpected didn't slip into the system and it is unchanged. There were no other changes to priests other than the lowered damage of SW:P.
While player-vs.-enemy (PvE) gameplay suffers from a predictable grind, the player-vs.-player content benefits from being more of the same. PvP enthusiasts will find plenty to do and a number of great locales to do it in. Players who love running smaller instances will also be fans of Burning Crusade, which has decided to focus more on these more intimate affairs than massive 40-man raids. Your mileage may vary, obviously, based on how you play the game and what your tastes run towards, but either way, what Ive seen is unarguably well-designed and implemented.
Lets face it: if youre one of the millions of people playing World of Warcraft right at this moment, you are basically going to buy this expansion. Youre going to install it, complain that for 40 bucks they could have at least put the game on a DVD instead of four CDs, and you are probably going to like it with few reservations. Burning Crusade's most grievous crime is that it totally invalidates the years of work you've put into pimping out your toons, but if you can handle looking like you can't dress yourself in the morning, the new equipment you'll be earning will be a salve on the wound. Some might complain that the expansion pack is nearly the full price of a standalone game, but theres a lot of expansion packed in for WoW devotees to enjoy.
Existing players of World of Warcraft who are already at level 60 have probably already bought The Burning Crusade; for those who are not, or those who have not played the game yet, the burning question (sorry) is whether this expansion pack really adds anything of value for new players, or for players starting anew.
The answer to that question is both yes and no. It is very much an expansion pack, after all; there are no significant new gameplay modes added to the early game, and the basic mechanics of how quests, combat, crafting and trading work are all exactly the same as previously, with few tweaks to a formula which has already proved to be hugely successful. If that formula left you cold before, it's unlikely that The Burning Crusade will change your mind, and the small tweaks on offer still don't fix fundamentally dull pieces of game design like the lengthy travel time between quest objectives.
On the other hand, there is no denying that The Burning Crusade is a triumph of design - in so much that it is everything which made World of Warcraft popular, fun and exciting, distilled down and refined by the developers after years of experience. The two new races represent the most polished and enjoyable way to enter the world of Azeroth - or, indeed, to enter the world of MMOGs in general - which makes The Burning Crusade's low-level content into an extremely welcome addition to an already excellent RPG.
We're currently planning to raise the damage a slight amount in a future patch. I believe the intention is the patch after 2.0.6 but I don't have any confirmation on that as of yet. The rank 12 version is intended to be a lesser increase over the rank 11 than previous ranks as we're sort of resetting where we want the damage to be for the spell moving forward, it wasn't however intended to actually be lower. Raising it is going to make the increase from rank 11 a little bigger (ie actually exist), and the increase going to rank 13 a little smaller.
It has a surprisingly large female audience as well, which is unusual for any videogame, let alone an RPG. It does. I think its because the game is very social - anything thats online and social tends to appeal to a female audience. Also I think the fact that in wow you personalise your character, you can express yourself through the game and with the expansion you can do this even farther.
Do you think that MMORPGs are the future of video games? Online gaming in general is the future. I think that in the near future you wont see games that dont have an online component, theyre all going to be based around that kind of group play and community.

"One of the core tenets of 'WoW' design philosophy is to not design around super-long extended-play sessions," he said. "We really focused on the winged-dungeon approach." That means they've made areas designed for players to quickly get in and out, knocking through one 45-minute wing at a time. "We felt that gave people the option of doing a bite-size chunk of content on their own time, and should they choose to take four or five bites in a night, that's kind of a personal decision."
It takes quite some time to completely explore every corner of the World of Warcraft, Azeroth. But how big is this world in square miles or square kilometers? While other game companies brag about the size of their worlds, Blizzard is keeping mum about this. So I had to go out and measure it myself.
If you have a look at the continent of Kalimdor, you will see that it is roughly rectangular, and three times as long as it is wide. So if we could measure how wide it is, we would have its area. And the second continent, the Eastern Kingdoms, while being shaped more irregularly, has roughly the same area. But how do you measure the widths of a continent?
A week after the release of The Burning Crusade, Azeroth is thankfully returning to something resembling normal. The starting areas for the new races are now a joy rather than a chore to play through, the auction-house prices on jewelcrafting materials are steadily deflating, and quests and PVP objectives in Hellfire Peninsula can be enjoyed as Blizzard intended. Numerous level-70 characters with flying mounts and new epic gear can already be seen in the skies above Outlands, and those of us who are still working toward the magic number are moving from new region to new region like a plague of locusts--devouring Blizzard's bandwidth everywhere we go.
So there you have it. The Burning Crusade got off to a predictably less-than-perfect start, but at the time of writing, the performance issues that we experienced for the first few days are all but forgotten, and we're thoroughly enjoying every minute we possibly can exploring beautiful and deadly new lands. Your mileage will vary according to which server you're playing on, of course, but the initial rush for the new areas is over, and frankly, it's a great time to be a World of Warcraft player. Expect a full review of The Burning Crusade soon.
Burning Crusade definitely expands World of Warcraft for the elder players. Veterans will enjoy the expansion most, and the two new races offer variety for the experienced and a fresh choice for the newly initiated. Sadly, there flows a feeling of disjunction, as though the new starting areas feel tacked onto the rest of the "old world". Also, with all of the newly created characters of the new races there should be new dungeons and instances for the players to run. Forcing the veterans to wade through the same content from levels 25 to 58 not only lacks flavor -- it feels downright disheartening.
Could Burning Crusade be worth the somewhat expanded price tag? Definitely. Any level 60 player has no reason not to achieve level 70, and anyone who bought their epic mount has no reason not to have a flying mount as well. Basically, if World of Warcraft feels right, so will Burning Crusade.
