With our newly renewed focus on Final Fantasy XI we've decided to launch a contest open to all of our readers who have a VNBoards Account. The purpose of this contest is to help name our newly created unofficial mascot the Pink Chocobo. Of course with a name like the pink chocobo who's going to invite her to parties? We invite you, the community, to help come up with a new name for this beloved creature.
You might be wondering why does FFVault need an unofficial mascot anyways? Well we're sure you've seen similar critters that have popped up in other publications over the years. They're always fun and exciting because you never quite know where they'll pop-up next. We're sure you'll see the pink chocobo pop up in comic stripes, screenshots and articles.

The Aht Urhgan expansion pack has introduced a myriad of new battles--from the quick, SWAT-style Assault missions to the citywide skirmishes experienced in Besieged. Salvage continues in this tradition by offering several new exploratory missions designed for alliances. While similar to Limbus battles in that up to 18 adventurers can participate, Salvage battles are more than a relentless assault on a seemingly never-ending wave of enemiesthey will require precise teamwork and impeccable strategy to complete.
Objective
The main objective of Salvage missions is the exploration of the archaeological remains of four newly opened areas (Zhayolm Remnants, Arrapago Remnants, Bhaflau Remnants, Silver Sea Remnants) and the eradication the demonic beasts that rule their deepest depths. However, this will not be as easy as it sounds. A powerful force known only as the Pathos of Alzadaal limits the abilities of all who enter, making them easy prey for the hordes of fiends waiting in the shadows.
To complete these missions, alliances must work as one, or the treasure that slumbers in the remnants' bowels will remain lost for eternity.
Ah yes, it's that time of the year again where children, and children at heart, whisper their dreams and wishes to the stars--it's time for the Starlight Celebration! The people of Vana'diel are busy trimming up their towns with festive decorations, all to ring in this exciting event.

Producer's Comment On GM Policy Changes Print News | Mail News | Category: Game Updates Global Online Producer Sage Sundi has released a statement in regards to the GM policies being made public. We are proud to present it for you, our readers. We've included a small portion of it below. You can click "read more" for the full statement.
We are proud to announce that we are making our GM policies public and accessible to everyone. This decision was arrived at after much deliberation between our development team, global branches and other departments using input we received from players through IGN.com and numerous GM calls. As a result, we decided to make the GM policies public, and in order to provide an even higher standard of GM service, to reassess what it is that GMs do.
Click "read more" for Sage Sundi's full statement.
Our Game Masters (GMs) are responsible for monitoring and regulating the in-game environment to provide a fair, safe and enjoyable game play experience for our customers. Game Masters play a major role in rescuing player characters that have become stuck, they take action against 3rd party tool users, and respond to user requests for issues such as lost items etc.
The GM policy is a set of rules by which all GMs operate to ensure that the game proceeds smoothly for all FINAL FANTASY XI users.
Empire's Most Wanted 2 Print News | Mail News | Category: Site News The PlayOnline site has been updated with a new feature Empire's Most Wanted 2. This feature outlines some of the deadly enemies you may encounter in the game world. We've got a snippet below or you can read the full article here.
In recent months, numerous reports from mercenaries infiltrating the Troll stronghold of Halvung have indicated the presence of a sinister-looking three-headed canine of cyclopean proportions. Those who have mustered the courage to challenge the hell-spawned daemon in mortal combat tell spine-tingling tales of an impenetrable sable hide, and rows of armor-piercing jaws dripping endlessly with the blood and bile of countless victims...
Intelligence has also gathered that this creature might actually be the hunting dog of Troll mercenary captain Gurfurlur. If this is true, then it may not be long before the savages deploy it during one of their raids on Al Zahbi. We ask that all able-bodied mercenaries take up arms against this threat to the empire.
Kamp Kweh is a place where adventurers can bring their chocobos to interact with others, as well as view the conditions of the other participants' animals.
Chocobo Hot and Cold Game
Now, treasure-hungry adventurers from around Vana'diel can use their very own chocobos to hunt for buried loot in the Chocobo Hot and Cold Game. From chocobo digging pros to newcomers, this exciting new event has something for everyone!
How to Participate
First speak to one of the VCS representatives stationed in Bastok, San d'Oria, or Windurst. After an explanation of the rules, the representative will give you a chocograph with the name of several areas on it, as well as a clump of Tandjana wildgrass, used to call your chocobo in the field.
*Your chocobo must be registered before participating.
*You must possess the maps of the areas listed on the chocographs.
*After using a clump of Tandjana wildgrass, you must let your chocobo rest 24 hours before receiving a new one.
How to Play
1. Use the Tandjana wildgrass in one of the areas designated on your chocograph.
2. Once your chocobo arrives, your map will open and a marker (???) will indicate the general location of a hidden treasure coffer.
3. Ride your chocobo to the vicinity of the marker and dig. Depending on the relative distance you are from the coffer, your chocobo will react differently.
4. Your chocobo will tire after a certain number of digs. The game is over when you find the treasure or if your animal becomes too fatigued to dig anymore.
Chocobo Status
Several new chocobo statuses will be added in the next version update. Also, any status condition affecting your chocobo will be cured when it achieves its next state of growth.
New Statuses
Two new beneficial statuses being added are "bursting with vitality" and "sparkling with intelligence." During these times, not only will training programs yield better results, but your chocobo will also be more receptive to physical and mental stimulation.
Chocobos in Love
Previously, a chocobo being in love would only negatively affect the success rate of its training. However, with the next version update, this certain status will now sometimes benefit the chocobo.

Google Ad Help Print News | Mail News | Category: News The Vault Network is asking the community to help us preserve our "Don't Destroy the Game" philosophy and mantra. Our parent company IGN has partnered with the good guys over at Google to run its "Google Ads" across all of IGN's sites, which includes the Vaults. With that comes the chance of Google running a gold seller-type ad that might slip by the existing filter we help set up to ensure these ads are blocked. Because we told Google that these gold farmer type ads suck and don't belong on the Vault Network. They were more than happy to work with us to keep such ads off our sites. So, we will be watching to make sure we remove any that happen to slip through and muck up our stuff!
There is a gold lining to this situation (pun intended!). We have a system in place where any community member can submit an ad they might see via a simple and easy web form. You only need to provide one of two pieces of information: Name of Ad and/or the Link for the Ad -- that's it. Click here to learn more and where to submit.
