Little Brown Pony?[ Comment ] Print News | Mail News It seems that the players are a little disappointed that the legendary steed, "Ghostrider," whose bridle drops in Deathknell, is a small brown horse. They feel he should be a much more impressive mount, not a "draft pony."
Developer Prathun, who designed the encounter where the legendary steed's bridle drops, had this to say:
"...it sounds like the perception is that the item is named first and then we apply stats based on the name. This couldn't be further from the truth. Zajeer created the bridle (and all the other drops in Deathknell) and submitted them to me for naming. I named it Ghostrider... not because the horse was white, or a pegasus, or really cool, or a motorcycle ridden by a guy in a leather jacket that has a flaming skull for a head, but because it's a musical reference to "Ghost Riders in the Sky". If you look at the list of drops in the zone you'll notice that nearly all of them are musical references of one sort or another, which should make sense considering that Deathknell is the God of Music's last holdout against the corruption of Mayong.
Now that I've got the origin cleared up, onto the meat of the issue. Is the Ghostrider model unique? Yes. The horse is unique in that it's the only fast tan-hued horse in EverQuest. Would it be cooler if we created a unique model with horns and flames and an oversized spoiler specifically for Ghostrider? Sure. Is that going to happen? Not likely."
So, if you see somene with a tan horse that can go really fast, that's Ghostrider. He's just like the famous racehorse Seabiscuit -- not so much to look at, but wicked fast!
The devs discuss the Serpent's Spine, the Progression server, itemization, tradeskills, and more. One of the more interesting from quotes from Rashere involves some future game features:
"We have several zone revamps in the pipeline right now, the first of which will be coming out with the patch next week. In addition, there are a bevy of holiday events heading your way and the new year will bring some surprising changes to the world of Norrath, but you'll have to wait and see for those."

Korea Legislates Real Money Transactions[ 1 Comment ] Print News | Mail News RMT, or "real money transactions" for virtual money and in-game items, is now being legislated in Korea. The boom in gold farming in all MMOs has caused quite a bit of debate in the gaming community, and whether you agree with it or not, it does affect game play. The largest and most visible of the companies that supply platinum and other items for EverQuest is IGE. All Vault sites do not accept gold farming company advertisements.
Finally, Korean Governement are to Illegalize RMT.
According to an article of a Korean newspaper, if a recent proposed bill named Amendment for Game Industry Promoting Law be through the National Assembly, all kinds of mediating businesses between in-game money and real money could be punished.
This Week's Poll[ 1 Comment ] Print News | Mail News It was pretty even as to what features you don't use to often, or in other words, you guys don't do Dragons of Norrath missions about as much as you don't use shrouds or play monster missions! Guess that could mean that you like all three!
This week's poll is about the American Thanksgiving holiday. Do you play on Thanksgiving day?
Promised Patch?[ Comment ] Print News | Mail News The next major update for the game will be sometime in December, reports Kytherea, on EQLive, but no date was given. This patch should have new hot zones, as well as other fixes, but we will have to wait and see what is actually put in the patch next month.

This week in the US, many people will be celebrating Thanksgiving with family and eating awesome food like: turkey, ham, mashed potatoes with gravy, stuffing, pumpkin pie and lots of other good stuff. Many cultures around the world celebrate similar holidays centered on harvest time.
The forum challenge for November is to post a recipe and picture from your culture that is used to celebrate harvest time. (It does not necessarily have to be a recipe your family serves)
The categories for this challenge will be:
Most unusual recipe
Most appealing recipe
Recipe most likely to have the most leftovers if served in your house
The Harvest Challenge will start today as of this post and run through Monday, November 27th at noon PST. You may submit your recipe and picture to [email protected]. Please include your forum handle and what culture uses this recipe for its harvest celebration as well as the category you wish to submit your recipe in.
On Monday, November 27th sometimes after noon PST, I will post the recipes on the Just for Fun forum and start a poll for each category so the community can vote on the recipes. One challenge winner from each category will receive a special forum title and an in-game prize for one character of their choice.
"The plan is for the next patch to include the new Hot Zones. I'm pretty excited about getting them out there for you guys."
For the first time, there will be a level 65 hot zone with this set. The Progression servers will also have hot zones, but Nodyin notes, "As far as the new rares and itemization they will be locked until PoP is unlocked, but I believe you guys are on pace to have unlocked that expansion before the zones will go in."
CurtEQ writes: "I found a crash. THE crash? hard to say. But a crash for sure, reproducible (now that I know the missing factor) and fixed. It will go out on the next live patch. I can tell you without a doubt it was responsible for the core dumps that I could make heads/tails of, but as for the semi-corrupt ones? Good chance, not great.. but good.
No I don't know when the next live patch will be, and I'm not authorized to speculate, but I can assure you it will be soon.
No I'm not going to tell you the details, except what everyone already knows; its related to charm and death. I'm sorry, I truly am, for the honest guilds and raid leaders who would use the info correctly, but if I post "don't do this" I might as well code in a button that just crashes the zone when you press it."
The boat in Qeynos works very well ... The boat in Freeport, however... Ran into a couple snags, primarily with the Ocean of Tears zone and how it's laid out. That will be fixed in the relatively near future, making the Freeport boat as functional as the Qeynos boat.
The speed that the boats were running during beta was a hyper-accellerated speed, such that I could test out the functionality of my new boat system, without having to wait an hour for the boat to show up. The boats will move faster than they used to, but they won't be moving that fast. I expect an 8-10 minute round trip for the boats.
Boats should be ready to go live around the same time as the revamped ocean of tears. The issue that I ran into was with the orientation of the Ocean of Tears, and I am currently working on the revamp of Ocean of Tears, which is necessary to facilitate proper functionality of the boats."
