Michael Ironside Week! Michael Ironside will be playing a (presumably hard-assed) GDI commander in C&C3;, and so we honour him with this week of suitably hard-assed pictures. Check out IMDB for the C&C3; casting details.
Design Contest Results The results of the C&C; 3 Design Contest are in! Thanks to everyone who participated, we enjoyed reading your submissions.

Michael Ironside Week! 21:31 PST | HeXetic | Print News | Mail News Allow me to officially kick-off Michael Ironside Week here at PCNC, in tribute to one of our favourite constantly-typecast-as-a-hard-ass-character actors, Michael Ironside. We all have high hopes that his role in C&C3; will be his most hardest-assiest hard-ass character yet.
Over the next week, expect to see lots of screencaps from Michael Ironside as hard-ass evil henchman Richter in Total Recall and Michael Ironside as hard-ass go-get-em-trooper Lt. Rasczak in Starship Troopers, which happen to be, aside from the Splinter Cell games, the only two pieces of visual media that I own with Michael Ironside in them, but in all honesty, a little Michael Ironside goes a long way, especially when we're talking about Total Recall and Starship Troopers, aw yeah!
Look forward to more Insert Actor Name Here Weeks to come because it's a cheap and easy way for me to have decent, fresh POTDs without doing too much work. (suckers!)
Frank Klepacki Update 15:31 PST | Dario | Print News | Mail News Everyone's favorite music composer, Frank Klepacki, has posted another of his monthly updates. For those of you not receiving it via the newsletter, you can read it by clicking the Read More link.
It's as if they looked at standard RTS's and went "OK, fuck what they are all doing....let's go in the opposite direction"
I'm told you should expect somewhat unremarkable graphics but a huge level of zoom and a focus on large-scale warfare rather than Company of Heroes-style infantry-level operations.
Of course, IGN/GSI's rival to XFire, Comrade is also supported. But remember, this demo is for FP subscribers only.
Generals World Series 12:04 PST | Dario | Print News | Mail News GameReplays.org and ClanWars.cc, sponsored by Electronic Arts and ZBoard, are holding the Generals World Series tournament championship. This event will pit the 32 best ClanWars players together in a brutal competition. Prizes include keyboards, mice, copies of the The First Decade pack, cash and official EALA artwork autographed by Apoc (when he gets back home safe). You'll find more details on the GameReplays.org forum.
More Vietnam 10:11 PST | Dario | Print News | Mail News After posting a new update yesterday, the team working on Vietnam: Glory Obscured has posted another one, and will continue to do so throughout the upcoming week. Here are today's pictures:
Deutsche LANpartyenmitderschnitzelundsauerkraut 20:44 PST | HeXetic | Print News | Mail News Trust the Germans to have all the fun. My mole in Deutschland has let me know of an awesome 1000-seat LAN Party being thrown in Magdeburg that will be attended by EALA schmo Amir Rahimi, who will be giving a presentation on BFME2's expansion pack as well as (naturally) EA Wienerschnitzellander representative Pete Larsen and a guy from DICE.
Of course there'll be the usual Crysis droolfest and the expect Need for Speed: Carbon release party, but more importantly (from our perspective) will be the fact that the lucky souls attending the LAN party this weekend (October 27 - 29) may also get to scope out a new C&C3; trailer and possibly get some new info on the game. Word out on the cobblestone street (with a sausage in one hand and a pilsener in the other) is that this supposed trailer will be exclusive to the sods at the LAN, who will also be competing for something like 50,000 worth of prizes which, for those of you unable to do currency conversion, is quite a hefty amount of buckazoids.
But seriously, how do I get that kind of shiznit for my (admittedly smaller) LAN parties?
Empire at War: FoC Ships 19:39 PST | HeXetic | Print News | Mail News And in other "guys who previously made C&C;" news, I just wanted to drop a brief note to all of you who played Petroglyph's first game, the Star Wars RTS Empire at War, passed to me by Petroglyph's community manager Kevin Yu that the expansion pack, Forces of Corruption, should be hitting the stores right now. There's a little interview video you can snag if you want to see former C&C; Community Manager Chris "Delphi" Rubyor hamming it up - he's FoC's lead designer.

ViPr has released a new version of 3DS2VXL which introduces tooltips and fixes some texturing issues from previous versions. In case you're not familiar with this nifty little utility, it allows you to convert your 3D models (made in 3D Max, Blender...) into voxels.
