A New 'HOSTEL' To Open Up Near You In 2007
Bloody-Disgusting.com reports that on January 7th, 2007 Lionsgate will unleash Eli Roth's "Hostel 2", which, this time around, will follow three girls who will be kidnapped and tortured.Pitt & Paramount Ready For 'WAR' With Zombies
Variety.com is also reporting that in a high-six-figure deal, Paramount Pictures acquired screen rights to the Max Brooks novel "World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War." Brad Pitt's Plan B will produce.Written by the author of the satire "The Zombie Survival Guide," Barry's follow-up sparked a bidding battle between Par and Pitt, with Warner Bros. and Leonardo DiCaprio's Appian Way on the other side of the table. Book is a sober telling of the aftermath of a war fought against a legion of humans who were inflicted with a virus, died and were reanimated into flesh-eating zombies.
Italian 'MASTERS' To Not Hold Back The Violence
Variety.com is reporting that looking to revive the Italian slasher genre, state film entity Istituto Luce will co-produce and release locally an ultraviolent pic package including new works by cult vets Lamberto Bava, Umberto Lenzi and Sergio Martino.Unveiled to journos in Rome's skull-filled wax museum, the four-pic Masters of Italian Horror package is co-produced by Luce with Luciano Martino's Dania Film and the Turin Film Commission. Luce is seeking an international sales company for the slashers, which are to be completed by June 2007. Though inspired by Showtime's Masters of Horror series, new Italo slasher slate has no links with the Showtime web. Package instead marks a rare case of Italo product for which financing from local broadcasters has purposely not been sought. "For once we won't be slaves to the sugar-coated tastes of TV audiences," said Lenzi.

'TWIN PEAKS: S2' DVD Gets Aussie Date, No Word On US
Moviehole.net is reporting that Twin Peaks: Season Two has finally been confirmed for DVD years after it was originally scheduled for release. David Lynch has finished scrubbing the negative (Lynch wanted the print to look pristine before it got a DVD release, apparently), Paramount has rounded up some nice extras for it, and the plastic company has come through with some nifty packaging. So, its a go.The DVD Twin Peaks: Season Two Special Edition will be released in Australia on Thursday 2nd November, from Paramount. (Theyll also be releasing Twin Peaks: The Complete Collection, which includes both Season 1 and Season 2, the same day). No word yet on the extras, but since its called a Special Edition, it could be assumed that Paramount has slapped some stuff together for it. Also, The DVD should be out in most territories around the same time, if not a little earlier.
