A word from Matt and a new Cubetoons.

Camelot

wasn't camelot making an RPG for the cube?

Matt responds: It was never really confirmed to be a GameCube title. Everyone just assumed it would be. But more recently, Camelot admitted that the RPG would in fact be designed for Nintendo's next-generation console, codenamed Revolution. So, good. Already a game for the system that I'm very interested in.

What's Going On?

Matt, this is a made up question to yourself from yourself so that you can respond. Pretty damned convenient, don't you think?
Matty C

Matt responds: Very convenient, yes. Thank you for that. So anyway, it's starting to feel like E3 again. And what I really mean by that is, it's starting to get crazy busy. This week, I was running back and forth between events, the latest of which, THQ's Superstar Challenge, was a good amount of fun (and plenty surreal). The party took place at the House of Blues in Hollywood, and the club was packed full of wrestlers, divas, journalists and various metal fans there to see the band Unwritten Law tear up the stage. Before that, superstar John Cena debuted some songs from his upcoming rap album, which was an interesting display.

The THQ event goes on through the weekend, leading up to WrestleMania on Sunday, which I'll be attending. On Monday, Fran and I fly out to Seattle to check out a Nintendo event that's focused on the publisher's upcoming baseball entry. And Tuesday morning, we fly to Canada, where we'll be for the rest of the week.

I bring all of this up for two reasons. The first is that during last night's Superstar Challenge, we interviewed the giant wrestler Kane, and I had an epiphany. He is more or less a buffed up version of our own DS editor-in-chief Craig Harris. Sadly, I don't have time to provide pictures of Kane Harris, destined to be a new mailbag hero, but rest assured that I will post them sooner or later.

The second reason I bring this up is to make sure that everybody realizes that there will probably not be any mailbag updates while I'm out next week. There's just no way to manage it. But in place of mailbag we should have some pretty good write-ups from our various visits, some more anticipated than others, obviously.

Monkey Action

Any news on super monkey ball 3? The first and second games were totally bitchen.

Matt responds: Not much to say on the sequel. According to sources, Sega has no plans whatsoever to talk about the next Super Monkey Ball game at the forthcoming E3 show this May. At this point, I'm beginning to suspect that we won't see a true SMB sequel until the next-generation consoles show up. Kind of a bummer, especially for us GameCube owners who frankly deserve a third game, damn it all.
