N-Query
NBA Street Vol. 3 details.
Literal Man
That was so wrong putting all that spoiler info about the plot in RE4 in your mailbag. Answering that person's letter by putting all that information in was just wrong. Don't be a F$#king jerk.
Matt responds: Do you see? Do you see what I have to work with here? I'll be the first to admit that my jokes, if they can be called that, leave a lot to be desired. Still, I'd like to think that they are at least recognizable as extremely primitive, ineffective attempts at humor. Then again, perhaps that is not the case, as I received one or two e-mails like yours. However, given that I only received one or two e-mails and not 1,000 or 5,000, I may also deduct that you are simply not very bright and therefore not capable of distinguishing sarcasm from reality. In the future, try to be smarter, like the other readers.
Cinematics
are there gonna be any cg scenes in RE4?
Matt responds: Not to my knowledge. Capcom has stated that the game engine handles all of the cut-scenes in Resident Evil 4. I might add that the cinematics look near-CG quality despite the fact that they run on the game engine. Please take a moment to bow in respect and in awe of Capcom's artists and programmers.
Dear Lord!
Iv'e seen the new RE4 videos with the bosses and stuff but I still can't figure out if that big ogre thing is the lord suttler the villagers talk about at the end of the first demo.
Matt responds: The Village Chief is not the same person as this "Lord" character the villagers keep mentioning as they stumble around in a dazed state. To be perfect honest, I still don't know who the big Lord S. is. He may very well turn out to be the ogre-like beast you referenced, but I have my doubts. In officially released screenshots given to us by Capcom, the company labeled all images of the ogre as "El Gigante." Could just be something they came up with last minute for the images and then again maybe not. You won't have to wait much longer to find out. It just occurred to me -- something of an epiphany, really -- that we're less than a month away from Resident Evil 4's US release.
Exclusive
Resident Evil 4 isn't exclusive anymore, but are we still the only one's who get the chain-saw controller?
Matt responds: You're really desperate for an exclusive, aren't you? For now, the Resident Evil 4-themed chainsaw controller is a GameCube exclusive, but I imagine that maker Nuby Tech will release a PlayStation 2-compatible version when Capcom's survival horror sequel gears up for release on Sony's console. You'd do well to remember that RE4 is technically a GameCube exclusive for most of 2005. And yes, so is the chainsaw controller.
PS2 RE4
I'v e read that psm confirmed new stuff for RE4 on ps2, but nobody has details. Can you confirm.
Matt responds: Yep. Just got off the phone with Chris over at PSM. The PlayStation 2 version of RE4 will allegedly feature new costumes, weapons and cut-scenes. PSM ran with this news after someone from Capcom posted the information on a message board.
NBA Street Vol 3. Scoop
Do you have any more details on NBA Street Vol. 3 with Mario characters yet?
Matt responds: A few. There have been a couple of rumors going around that as far as I've heard are false. The biggest and dumbest is that NBA Street Vol. 3 for GameCube features an additional disc with a completely original Mario All-Stars Basketball game on it. That's simply not true. Rather, the Nintendo All-Stars characters and one original court are included in the GCN build of NBA Street. You can play as Mario, Luigi and Peach (no others) and there's a Mushroom Kingdom-style basketball court with appropriate sound effects. For instance, when your Gamebreaker Meter fills up, you hear the Super Mushroom sound effect. The second rumor I've heard is that the Nintendo characters cannot interact with any real pros, and this is also false. You actually square off against real NBA athletes using Nintendo's three mascots and the experience is wholly surreal because Mario, Luigi and Peach stand about half as tall as some of these basketball giants.
