Lunar, Dark Cloud, Kingdom Hearts, and still more...

Lunar Eclipse

I just noticed that you guys had LUNAR 3 on your release dates. My god how I've dreamed of this day. Is there any chance you guys could get any news on the development on this game? The last piece of news was dated 2000. My LUNAR itch must be appeased!

-- Allen

We're working on it. News is very hard to come by. It's so hard to come by, in fact, that cancellation / next-generation push rumors began circulating, but those in the know still say Lunar 3 is coming out for PlayStation 2.

And to think, I've been wasting my nights away dreaming of mating with Kristen Kreuk. Bring it on, Earthsea! I'll watch the crap out of your crappiness for her and nothing will stop me!

Stormy Weather

So what has happened to Dark Cloud 3. I don't think there has been a word about it all year, and it was due out by now. Is it even still in the works, or has it been cancelled?

-- Neal

Dark Cloud 3 was supposed to appear at E3, or at least it was included in Sony's lineup prior to the show. Since that slip, no information has surfaced. We do not believe the game has been cancelled, however.

Warrior Within Spoilers

WARNING: The following email contains Prince of Persia: Warrior Within spoilers.

Just a quick question for you. I just got to the part in popww where I defeated Kaileena but don't want to continue because I don't understand why the prince says that he is the architect of his own destruction. I read one paragraph in a forum that said that Kaileena was the sands of time. Is this true? I just don't get why the Dahaka is still chasing the prince after he killed Kaileena and stopped her from creating the sands of time. Could you please let me know what is going on? It's driving me crazy. Thanks.

-- Jordan

WARNING: The following response contains Prince of Persia: Warrior Within spoilers.

The Empress of Time was never actually "creating" The Sands of Time, despite what she originally said. The Sands of Time exist inside of her. She either serves as a carrying case for them, or they make her the Empress -- perhaps The Sands double as her blood / life-force. Whichever of those options it is, by killing her, the Prince releases The Sands of Time into the past, where they sit until the Maharaja eventually finds them.

This death / release is why in the future the Empress's island is a dump (she's been missing for so long) and why she originally states that "nothing can stop The Sands from being created." To her, it's destiny. She knows they will be made because she foresaw it on the timeline that she would be eventually killed by the Prince. She just doesn't know when they'll be made or when this will happen. So now the Prince is trying to kill her in the future, so that she releases The Sands then, in a time when the Maharaja cannot find them. Since The Sands have still been released in the past, Prince is still being chased by the Dahaka. Only when he releases The Sands in the future will he be safe from it.

Meows and Roars

Dear editor,
Hi, my name is Jennifer. I think Kingdom Hearts is the most beautiful and the coolest game that I've ever played. Anyway I would love to know this question. In Kingdom Hearts 2 will they have The Lion King characters in the game? They are my favorite, especially Simba. Thank you P.S. Merry Christmas to you and a Happy New Year.

-- Jennifer

Hi Jennifer. My Name is Ivan. I am the Edit-Man. I think kittens and potatoes are beautiful, but not sexually.

The first game had a Lion King summons, so it's safe to assume that they may have the same thing in part two. As far as an actual character goes, nothing was announced when Square detailed the additions, but it's still possible. I vaguely recall Simba being tossed around, anyway.

From Afar

Hi,
Any word on a revamped Logitech cordless action controller with a PSTwo compliant transceiver? I know it only gives the console a little lift, but the Mini is all about being super sleek. If not, any other wireless controllers that do fit the bill?

-- Chris

The Logitech controller is the only option you have for a good wireless controller for the PS2, period. You can waste your time on some other crap, but it's better if you just boost the PS2 up a tiny bit so that the transceiver doesn't take the weight.

Gorilla Warfare

I work in a games shop in the UK. As strange as this sounds, we recieved an email from head office yesterday explaining that the PS2 shortage was down to a 'geurilla threat' in the country where materials used for certain components are collected. I'm not saying it's true, but it's interesting anyway. Actually, the email said 'gorilla threat', but I assumed this meant terrorists, as opposed to monkeys.

-- Billy

See what happens when you try to outthink the memo, Billy, you get the wrong impression. The world may never know what the true impact the gorillas in the forests have on the global gaming market. Our genetic ancestors have long been jealous of our opposable thumbs and the ability to use this for exceptional gaming control and it's payback time. Get ready for the new ape overlords before it's too late. We're already stockpiling on bananas in order to keep our PS2s safe.

American Sales Pride

So what kind of sales figures have MGS3 garnered since its release a few weeks ago? Was it worth Konami's efforts to make the US release a top priority?

-- Alex

According to a representative from Konami the sales were "as expected" for MGS3. So it sounds like their plan has worked out pretty well so far. While we know that it sucks for the rest of the world to look on jealously as American gamers play through the game the decision was pretty justified. The American market is where the series has traditionally done the best so that's their focus. No real big mystery there.

Till Next Time

Well folks... Tonight I'm hosting a 20 person mini hold 'em tournament that I aim to win, or at least show up for on time. Later.
