Another Archives of Azeroth is up [Post A Comment] - Print News | Mail News Magi once again is taking a look at WoW and EQ2, though this time he is focusing on the war of words taking place in the community.
This is not a friendly war of words either, but one of harsh criticisms, most of which, in my mind, are false. It is a complete crucification of EQ2 from the WoW community. Could it be that we're trying to justify any hopes WoW has of succeeding?

It had happened a little over a year ago, but the pain, the memories, they were so fresh that she expected to still find warm, wet blood coating her hands every time she awoke, still expected to see the gore-splattered walls of the barrow prison greeting her eyes.

Archives of Azeroth returns! [Post A Comment] - Print News | Mail News One of our first column writers has returned along with his column. His latest column recounts his experience in the Everquest 2 beta, and compares the "other" game to World of Warcraft. Here's a taste.
EverQuest II has so much potential (ironically, the same could be said for another SOE game that shall remain nameless...) and for a long time I believed that potential would turn into reality. As a member of EQ2 Vault staff, I had a few instances of interaction with the developers of EverQuest II. Hearing them talk about their game and their plans, they had me believe that their game was going to be a big success.

But now the Well's energies have been defiled and twisted, for Queen Azshara and her Highborne will stop at nothing to commune with their newfound god: the fiery Lord of the Burning Legion...Sargeras.

In September, Blizzard held a stress test beta for World of Warcraft to help tune the games network infrastructure. Over 100,000 participants signed up for the stress test beta and connected to our servers to help us analyze performance under heavy loads. In conjunction with that, we ran a small contest as a means of allowing a large selection of dedicated stress testers to continue on into the closed beta test. The 720 players listed represent the winning stress testers. These characters achieved the highest level of experience for their race and class, per faction, on the server on which they were created. Congratulations!

A new story is born, One Last Promise [Post A Comment] - Print News | Mail News We have a new writer on board here at the vault. His column is called "One Last Promise," and I'm sure you'll like it. Here is a sample of the first chapter.
The warm summer wind brushed against his cheek much the same way as the breath of his dying friend did so many years past. His friends last words begging Kyriacus to leave him behind. Words that begged him to return home and leave this battle to the Humans. Kyriacus promised, as he always did, to do just that, and his friend died with a content look upon his pain-wracked face.
You can read the rest of the Night Elf's tale here. Enjoy!
Falling back is a maneuver no one likes to endure. Shrieks of friends falling nearby, the constant mashing of the blood entrenched earth, the stains that can ruin a mind for eternity.
