DS Launch Hello, I just read your article "Nintendo Dismisses Microsoft Advances." In the third paragraph you stated: "The company this November will release the Nintendo DS handheld in the US, followed by a December release in Japan, according to sources." What sources did you hear that from? Did Nintendo confirm that? Thank You for Your Time, and you have the best game site ever!
Matt responds: This is one-hundred percent true. I've been hearing it from very reliable sources in the development community who would prefer to remain anonymous at this point, but you count on the information. Nintendo has made the launch of DS in America its first priority. Evil 2005 Hey guys, 'viewtiful' site you got here. I just want to know, what the hell is Capcom thinking?? Releasing the game 15 days after Christmas is a big mistake, I know the game is going to sell well, but imagine how would it sell if it's released, lets say, on December 18 or so. By the way, Fran sucks.
Matt responds: I know exactly how you feel because I agree. I was planning to write a long-winded editorial about what a disaster such a move was, but about halfway through I realized I read like a whiny bitch and abandoned the project. So I'll just summarize here: a post-holiday season launch sucks for gamers and for Capcom, as it we won't get to play the sucker of the break and Capcom won't get our money. What a January 11, 2005 launch says to me is that the company is planning to delay the game to March or April and is just letting us down easy for now. I could be wrong, but that's the Nintendo way of doing it, anyway. Soulcalibur III What's the deal with Soul Calibur 3? Huh? Since Midway has decided to shaft the 250,000 of us who purchased Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance by not giving us MKD sequel, I simply must ask what will become of our greatest fighting franchise? Where is the sequel to Soul Calibur 2 and more importantly how can Nintendo and Namco make Sony and M$ green with envy that we got the greatest version of the game? Answers people.... we need answers! Matt responds: Don't fret about Mortal Kombat. The situation is not quite as bleak as you might think. But as for the Soulcalibur franchise (and by the way it really is spelled like that, according to Namco), the developer has a sequel in the works. It's very early on. And I have no idea what to expect from it yet. But we can assume that Nintendo fans will not be ignored, especially since the GameCube version of Soulcalibur II, which was powered by Link, outsold the others.
If you're reading this, Namco people, please make an all-Zelda fighter in the style of Soulcalibur. (By the way, look for an editorial from me on this very subject in the not too distant future.) Mario Tennis
Matt responds: Well, we've not seen a whole lot on Mario Tennis just yet. You might already know that it's not going to be a pure tennis simulation. Instead, the game is going to be pretty wacky, filled with obstacles and power-ups, and surrounded by a wide variety of Nintendo mascots. A lot of people missed the E3 2004 video of the game in motion. If you're one of them, I suggest clicking here.
Mario Tennis will come out before the end of the year in Japan and in the US. As soon as we get our hands on a copy, we'll blow it out. DoR
Hi, I was wondering if the new game WWW DOR for GameCube was gonna include Goldberg, Brock Lesnar or Stone Cold. Thanks.
Matt responds: Nope. None of these guys are in any of the versions of Day of Reckoning I have. Send your letter to GameCube Mailbag
