August 05, 2004 - Paramount Pictures has officially announced the release of seasons one and two of the original Ren and Stimpy Show, from the early 1990s. The set will be available October 12 for $39.98.

Long before Nickelodeon screwed up Invader Zim, they had another demented hit on their hands with Ren & Stimpy, which debuted on Nick in August 1991. Like Zim, Nick had a show that was both a huge hit and disturbingly out of place among its usual safe fare. What happened after the first season is best left up to TV historians.

The set will include 30 episodes, including the banned episode Man's Best Friend plus episodes like Stimpy's Invention and my favorite, Fire Dogs. Extras will include audio commentary from the original creators (that should be priceless), a featurette and more.
