August 16, 2004 - One of IGN's favorite Japanese RPGs from last year is getting an update. Publisher/developer Nippon Ichi announced recently a new version of La Pucelle: Hikari no Seijo Densetsu (La Pucelle: Tactics in America) for the PlayStation 2. This update is scheduled for Japanese release on 10/21 of this year.

The update adds a few features to the original game. Clear the game once and you gain access to a music test. Also, once you've cleared the game, you can now replay from the beginning with your stats kept super powerful. Special stages featuring mega-strong enemies feature in this "second quest." Finally, available from the start menu right when you start up the game for the first time are new settings which allow you to change the cursor and menu appearances.

So why exactly is Nippon Ichi releasing this moderate upgrade to La Pucelle: Tactics? This tile is actually just a budget re-release of the original for Japan, and it carries the same name as a result. Most Japanese companies release budget versions of their games a few months following the original version, but Nippon Ichi, cool folks that they are, decided to add some new features to make an already good game even better.

At an expected price of 2940 yen, fans of the original may want to pick up the title for collection purposes and in order to try out the few new gameplay additions.
