Just thought of it three months ago. A great genre right now in console games is FPS games. The left analog is to move while the right is to look around. how about it if the bottom screen was used like a mouse! move it use a finger instead of a mouse would be pretty amazing. The DS is the ultimate handheld system for this already large genre Jon You've just described the controversial control scheme of Metroid Prime: Hunters. -- Craig
Ports? Is the DS really worth $200 since most of the games will be ports or remakes? MT Woah, woah, woah there, tiger. The DS may get its fair share of ports (I'm still convinced that later in the DS life we'll be getting the Classic Super NES series), but it's not a system full of them. There will be tons of original titles for the system, simply due to the fact that the unique display and control scheme of the system make it a system that's not port friendly. -- Craig
Money for Multiplayer I was wondering, is Wi-Fi gonna cost anything? Doug Nintendo hasn't offered any details on any sort of Internet-based plan, other than that the system will be capable of talking on wireless internet connections. Naturally, there will need to be a central server if games are going to support a worldwide multiplayer network (like Xbox Live, for example), but it's up to whoever runs those networks if they're going to set up a membership to use them. -- Craig
Locks Hey IGN! That updated list for the DS sounds sweet, but since most of the games there are alien to American audiences (Ganbare Goemon is NOWHERE NEAR as popular here as it should) I wanted to know if the DS had a region lockout or not, like the GBA. I hope it doesn't, because it looks like I'll be busy importing if it doesn't:) vince Nintendo's handheld systems have never had a territory lockout on them, simply because of the portability aspect of them. They don't want to put any restrictions on your portable experience, so if you're traveling with your Game Boy, you can buy a game ANYWHERE...no matter what the territory. I don't think the DS will have lockout...but it hasn't been announced. (Nintendo usually doesn't announce this type of feature...they just let people discover it on their own.) -- Craig
DS a PDA? Hi there, Craig. Great site. I was wondering if the DS will have any PDA-Like functions. I don't mean anything flashy like file storage or a windows-like browser, more something simple like perhaps a schedule or notation program. I don't imagine it would take too much resources to have the DS store some simple handwriting so you can leave yourself notes. Thanks. Steve Hey, if they can dream it, they can do it. There's nothing stopping a developer from actually creating a productivity package for the Nintendo DS. And if I were a gambling man (which I am), I'd say the odds of someone doing something like this are pretty darn good. -- Craig
Why March? Hi, Since the DS is supposedly going to be released this November, how come at ebgames.com all of the DS games have a release date in March?? Is this just because they do not know, or are those the actual release dates? Robert A. EB is playing it safe with dates, since Nintendo still hasn't stepped forward with the official release date announcement. EB doesn't want to mislead the public with "early" dates...they need to have the games in their database in order to do presells, so it's better to have the dates LATE than EARLY. -- Craig
The dates I was just looking at the new DS game list, and it is looking great. I can't wait to see what Tecmo is bringing. I was wondering though, back when DS was first announced I remember reading an article that Telegames was going to release a new version of Ultimate Card Games for the DS with touch screen support and wireless game play. I was wondering what happened or if Telegames cancled their work on it. Please let me know becuase wireless poker would be sweet. James Monte The announced list was just for Japanese publishers. Ultimate Card/Brain Games is still in development. -- Craig
Be more descriptive HELLO, How many colors do the LCD Screens have? AMQ Three: Red, green, and blue. Yes, I'm a smartass. -- Craig
