Over the past year, Khaeon, the developers of impending Alpha Black Zero, have been working on an entirely new project using Serious Engine technology. For the first time since development began, we're able to bring you some information about the game, as well as two teaser pictures shown below.

Negative Space is an isometric shooter (a viewpoint similar to that of Neverwinter Nights) using a highly modified and improved version of the Serious Engine. A demo is expected within a week or two, and the retail release should be within the next six months.

There are so many corporate logos on the CD, that I have no idea who(m) to thank, but thank you all! This is the game that “twitch” players with a good sense of humor have been waiting for! What could be better than tooling around with massive weaponry, massive pecs, and an amazingly hot wife on your back who, on your command, will fly into the air dropping cluster-bomb destruction on your nemeses?

It's that time again. The Croteam site has been updated with another juicy tidbit regarding their new engine.

Serious Destruction editor (SDE)

Here it is, our new useful editor, programmed and integrated in Serious Tools. As its name suggests, Serious Destruction Editor is used for making of destructions of any model that can be found in the game. As was the case with all Serious Tools so far, this editor is characterized with simplicity and artist's independency. Anyone can make model with its destruction/s, without any written line of code. In particular, Destruction Editor allows you to add destruction elements to any model, adjust their positions and add particle effects (smoke, fire, dust...), sound and model that stay on place after the explosion. Model that stays after explosion can even have its destruction animation (e.g. shake animation). Any destruction model can have its destruction, so you can destruct in as many phases as you like. In combination with our Serious Particle and Animation Editors (we wrote about them in previous reports), you have all the tools needed to make explosions and destructions with all the bells and whistles that comes with it. And what's the most beautiful thing, you don't need to write any line of code to do it. Our MOD community will love it. You are annoyed cause you cannot destruct something in the game? Just do it yourself! Well, seriously.

Seriously! and its related sites including SeriousEngine.com, the forums, and file system, will be down for 4-6 hours on Sunday, July 11th, at 12 AM EST. Our server is being moved from the NAC datacenter in New Jersey to a brand new datacenter in Clifton, NJ.

The new datacenter has been carefully planned from inception to overcompensate for such factors as cooling, generators, UPS’s, backup generators, fire suppression and much more. The new facility is currently set with 7500 sq ft of raised flooring, 10 (ten) 20 ton air conditioning units, closed circuit television system, Biometric Security system, double pre-action fire suppression system, MCI OC48 Full Sonnet Ring with Dual OC192’s being installed now. MCI and Above.net have been chosen for backbone providers and Level3 and Global Crossing will be added in the near future.

The boys at CAD Creations have been working again and have produced yet another patch for BTBA, which looks to be the last.

Alpha Black Zero in stores July 26 - Rodzilla - 5:10 PM - Comments - Link to this Item

After going gold in September of last year, Alpha Black Zero may finally see the light of day. Playlogic sends word that Alpha Black Zero is due in stores on July 26th, just shy of it's one year anniversary of being finished.

I am Lieutenant Kyle Hardlaw, the leader of the SolGov Federation Forces specialized commando unit Alpha Black Zero. I stand accused of multiple illegal assassinations against my own government. Originally it was my belief that the very government I have sworn my life to defend would do everything in its power to defend mine. Never could I have seen myself in front of a military tribunal where the most dangerous weapons are words not guns.

Centuries ago on earth in 1945, the United Nations Charter (Article 2) banned the first use of force, putting an end to declarations of war. "All members shall refrain in their international relations from the threat or use of force against the territorial integrity or political independence of any State." Over the years this article has been revised to imply that the use of force to liberate is not only allowed, it is expected. Yet, it is me on trial for war crimes not the leaders of the SolGov Federation.

With my trial fast approaching, my only hope of a “Not Guilty” verdict is to recreate the sights, sounds and stress of the killing fields for the Tribunal panel using a detailed record of my actions.

Croteam Bi-Monthly report: Issue 16 - toastar - 11:46 AM - Comments - Link to this Item

The guys at Croteam have just posted their latest update, this time concerning their new state-of-the-art animation editor.

Serious Animation editor (SAE) Serious Animation Editor has been added. That is something new and it's already proving to be a very useful tool. First, inside SAE you could create skeletal based animations. Procedure is similar to very expensive professional programs which are used for those purposes. This should be of great help to MOD community. They would have the possibility to create and add animations to the existing models or their own characters. After that, they could use Serious Macro Scripts (SMS) to control and play those animations. For example, anyone could create a cut sequence with their own animations, and all that without changing basic code. Along animations, you could also create paths. Paths could be used for various purposes e.g. path for camera, lights, character movement... Those paths could then be edited, you could insert new key frames, delete existing ones, etc.

CAD Creations has released the second patch for BTBA adding the much sought after dedicated server support as well as a new plane.

Changes from v1.01 to v1.02

-Fixed dedicated server problems, check SS/Mods/Btba2/Bin and use the bats for starting a server

After a few issues, CAD has released a quick fix for the public beta of BTBA just released. Included in this version are a few critical fixes that were causing crashes and connection failures.

-Fixed fatal error on joining a started game

With it came not only the cool factor of having one of these emails, but top-notch spam and virus protection that caused some of our email users to even forget what spam is. However, beginning now, we're offering the following email addresses to you, our visitors:
