===================================

Dark Age of Camelot
Test Version 1.70at Release Notes
July 22, 2004

===================================

NEW THINGS AND BUG FIXES

- Grouped monsters will no longer chase after targets they cannot attack, such as a Necromancer shade.

NEW FRONTIERS NOTES

- Reversed the ordering in the death messages to read: 'Target' was just killed in 'region' by 'killer'. For example: Joe was just killed in Bratag Woods by Harry.

- (Pendragon Only) The new postern doors have been returned to all keeps and towers in the Frontiers.

- Archer guards at Fensalir Faste, Dun Scathaig, and Caer Renaris whom were standing directly on the boiling oil hookpoint have been moved.

- The glacier maulers and icestriders directly next to the Fensalir Spire have been moved further away.

Bounty Quests

- (Midgard) Andersonn, who accepts Malefic Teeth, was incorrectly showing up in two places - in the middle of the wilderness in Uppland and in Svasud Faste. We have removed Andersonn from Uppland.

- (Midgard) Asdis, who accepts Thick White Pelts, has become tired of life in Svasud Faste. She has moved to the town of Godrborg in Uppland.

Item Notes

- The Axe of Conflict and the Blade of Conflict (Midgard) are now set to the correct dps.

CLASSIC CAMELOT WORLD NOTES

Albion

- The horse route between stablemaster Fluvon in Camelot Hills and Campacorentin Station will no longer attempt to pass directly through the town of West Downs.

SHROUDED ISLES WORLD NOTES

Item Notes

- The "ticket to Gwyddneau" sold by Callisa has been renamed to "ticket to Clifton".

TRIALS OF ATLANTIS WORLD NOTES

Item Notes

- The level of the Belt of the Sun and the Belt of the Moon summoned weapons have been set to the correct level.

COOPERATIVE SERVER

New Frontiers Monsters

- The tormented scouts at Caer Erasleigh have moved from outside the keep walls to positions on top of the wall itself.

- Keep Lords will now grant Master Level experience.
Thanks! And a very warm welcome to Missy, the Herald's newest member! /cheer

Welcome Missy!! New Mythic Community Coordinator!
Sanya tells us a little about our new Community Coordinator Missy!!

Welcome, Missy!
Posted By: Sanya Thomas 2004-07-22 13:30:04

It is with great anticipation that I introduce the newest member of the Herald team - Missy Hatch!

Missy is a lady of many talents - a writer, an artist, a player of all three realms, a woman of many characters and several level fifties, a devoted roleplayer, and an all around fun person. She's even completed her first fantasy novel, and received first prize for it in a contest.

We are lucky to have her. She's going to revitalize the community page, lurk on message boards, and help the Herald team with contests and Pendragon events.

See that "Community News" button up there? Dust it off, and make it your second stop every day. Give her a warm welcome by sending her your tales of blood, glory, and accomplishment!

Camelot Herald: "Cheaters go bye bye"
Sanya gives us a heads up on the next wave of bannings.

Next Wave of Cheaters: Bye Now.
Posted By: Sanya Thomas 2004-07-19 13:07:34

Greetings! We just wanted to announce that the next stage of our anti-hacker campaign has come to an end, and share the results with you. Today:

We banned more than fifty people who got caught in the first wave, and weren’t smart enough to take the slap on the wrist a few weeks ago as a warning.

We also banned some people who did not get caught in the first wave a few weeks ago, but had other violations on their accounts.

We suspended more than 500 people for seven days, who were not caught in the first wave - but perhaps made the mistake of thinking that the first wave of suspensions was an attempt at “humor.”

The third stage of anti-hacker sweeps has begun. Please keep an eye on your friendly neighborhood Herald for the results of the next wave, which will consist primarily of bannings.

Thanks Sanya!

  Camelot Herald: Friday Grab Bag
Here it is, in all its glory, from Sanya to you - the Friday Grab Bag!
Here She Is, Our Lovely Grab Bag from Sanya Thomas

Got a pretty good one tonight!

Q: What is the point of the change (currently on Pendragon) that says “- Much of the aggression generated by Animist turrets will now be transferred to the Animist's controlled pet during PvE combat”?

A: That change is a direct result of the adjustment to the number of hit points that “fire and forget” turrets have. (On Pendragon, that type of turret currently has 60% fewer hit points than a live turret. We’ve changed that from a more drastic 70%, and we may make further adjustments based on feedback and test results.) We know this change will have an affect on PVE hunting, and we hope to somewhat mitigate that effect in PVE by adjusting how the animist manages “agg.”

Q: This question has to do with the proc on the scalars gloves artifact. Two questions, actually. As an enchanter, I have a self buff that ups my ABS by 10%. Evidently the buff that scalars gives is the same "type," because when it procs it overwrites my ABS buff. Is this on purpose? Second, my aug healer has a self dmg shield. When the scalars proc goes off, I guess the dmg shield and the 40% ABS buff are tied together, because it says I "already have this effect" and neither the dmg sheild nor the abs buff are put on me.

Please help me understand if this is correct, and if so, why?

A: Only one offensive proc and one defensive proc can be on a player at any given time. Bear in mind that being *able* to use an artifact does not necessarily mean the artifact is ideal for you.

Q: (Insert question here about the legality of a particular kind of relic taking strategy.)

A: This was a hot issue on some of the message boards this week. Let me apologize in advance for the vagueness of this answer. As most of you know, I won’t usually go into a lot of detail about exploits or potential exploits – it would be easy for me to make a problem worse just by posting about it. It’s always better for Mythic to quietly reward the players who submit exploits, to deal with exploits with warnings (or, for people who were already warned once, a suspension or banning) as a temporary solution, and then to fix the exploit with code.

From your friends who work for our in-game support department:

”It has come to our attention that some players may be attempting to bypass the normal intended mechanism for taking a relic from an opposing realm. We are currently investigating any issues brought to our attention; as the Relics truly are the cornerstones of the RVR experience. Just to be clear, using any strategy to take the relic other than the method described here http://www.camelotherald.com/newfrontiers/keeps.php (under Relic Temples and Opening the Milegate) would be considered an exploit. Any attempt to bypass the intended method will be thoroughly investigated, and the players involved will be dealt with appropriately based on our findings.”

We did have some internal miscommunication about the nature of one exploit, and I apologize in a big way to any player who got bad information from a Mythic employee.

Q: (Insert question about Instant Elixirs versus Strong Elixirs.)

A: The Instant Elixirs are currently bugged. They are supposed to work when the user is in combat, hence the expensive costs and so forth. Thanks so much for bringing my attention to this problem.

Q: Does dex affect the casting speed of healers? There is a rumor that dex affected casters but healers are a hybrid of sorts so it did not affect casting speed of heals.

A: Dexterity affects ALL casting speeds, no matter what class is doing the casting. It’s hard coded into every spell with a casting time. That rumor is not true.

Q: (Insert question about the Belt of the Sun and the bow.)

A: Boy, I’ll be digging out from under the avalanche of these questions until the end of the world! :) Right now, we have a bug that makes the bow summoned by the Belt of the Sun do zero damage. As soon as we fix that bug, the Belt will once more summon bows.

Q: Design question – The Shadowblade is a dex class just like the Savage... so why isn’t the Shadowblade’s damage dex based?

A: The Oracle (a fellow who manages much of the behind-the-scenes data, and has been here since the dawn of time) responds: ”The short answer: Because the weapon specializations the Shadowblade receive (primarily axe and left axe) only require strength.”

Camelot Herald: More Notes on Pendragon
Straight from the Camelot Herald:

More Notes on Test from Sanya Thomas

Remember, these are test notes, and subject to change and evaluation. Thanks in advance to all testers.

===================================

Dark Age of Camelot
Test Version 1.70ar Release Notes
July 16, 2004

===================================

NEW THINGS AND BUG FIXES

- Fixed a bug introduced in 1.70 where damage variance against monster targets wasn't always working correctly. This was most noticeable on Albion double speccing classes, which could leave their secondary skill at 1 without any damage variance.

- (Bug Fix) Polearms and two handed weapons in Albion set to an elemental damage type will now make the correct secondary skill check. Previously these weapons were ignoring this check when determining damage, allowing unspecced players to use these weapons as effectively as specced players.

- Monsters being attacked by multiple casters using area of effect spells will no longer share aggro among the casters' group, but will instead treat them as regular spells.

NEW FRONTIERS NOTES

- Postern doors have been added to the outer walls of all frontier keeps. Previously the six island keeps had no postern doors and the other keeps only had the doors at the highest levels. These doors should now be in use from the first visible upgrade of the keep walls (level 2 to 4 depending on the keep).

- Postern doors have been added to all towers in the frontiers. These will be in use from the first visual upgrade of the towers (levels 4-10).

- The recall feature has been changed to work off of a 3 minute timer instead of resurrection sickness. Once you recall, you now need to wait three minutes to rebind to the keep lord or tower captain.

- Enemies will no longer get teleported out of a taken keep or tower.

- The 175 unit upward limit for turrets casting on their targets has been removed. Please note that this restriction removal does not change the caster's upward limit.

- While tracking a target, a piece of ranged siege will now lose that target if it goes under water, stealths, or goes out of range. Direct fire weapons, such as ballistas and pallintones, will also lose target if the target is a player or monster and goes out of line of sight. When a siege engine loses its target in this way, the siege ceases tracking and has its target set at the last known location of the target it was tracking (so, if you are quick, you may still be able to damage the target).

- (Pendragon Only) Players are no longer worth money for being killed to people who have just killed them recently.

Monster Notes

- The accursed hounds in the Passage of Conflict are now classified as animals.

CLASSIC CAMELOT WORLD NOTES

Albion

- Camelot - Alchemist Kael has been renamed to Master Kael since he sells both spellcrafting and alchemy supplies.

COOPERATIVE & PVP SERVER NOTES

- Master Kaldaran, Malandra, and Stor Gothi Sedirane will now correctly take New Frontiers portal scrolls. Master Kaldaran will also now take Camelot portal scrolls. These three NPCs should no longer randomly teleport players to Caerwent Marketplace.

TEST SERVER CHANGES

- We have added a Pendragon only NPC, Scrollmaster Yardel, that sells completed artifact scrolls/books for 500 gold pieces. This NPC can be found near the other Pendragon only merchants in Camelot, Jordheim, and Tir na Nog.
Thanks!

  Camelot Herald: Melee in Siege
Melee "tanks" in New Frontiers, this one's for you ;)
More Active Roles For Melee in Siege from Sanya Thomas

It has been three and a half weeks since the launch of New Frontiers, and your feedback has really helped us make the launch smooth and the expansion a success. As with any project this enormous, we’ve been carefully observing the general ebb and flow of battle, and reading your thoughtful comments now that you’ve had a chance to fully experience much of what the expansion has to offer. One of the top requests of our community was that we provide more siege options for character classes without much range capability. We have greatly increased the emphasis on siege warfare in the new expansion, and we appreciate that many of our “tank” players want a more active role in that.

Today’s “recall” addition is the first of two steps in our plan. (By swearing fealty to the lord or captain of a besieged structure, a player can benefit by having his body recalled to that lord or captain.) The purpose of this addition is to provide our players with limited or no range capability to leave the structure and engage in combat without entirely sacrificing the support of his comrades in arms.

The next step works hand in hand with the recall feature – more postern doors. In patch notes to come in the near future, we will be adding postern (small “back”) doors to towers upgraded to level four or better. At the same time, we plan to add more postern doors to all of the keeps, and at a lower level than before. The intent is that the postern door feature be available more often, and easier to acquire.

As you can see, the two features will allow our close range combatants to seek out the enemy on the field. It will still be dangerous, and require great courage – but it will no longer require a total sacrifice.

We look forward to feedback on the features when they are both on Pendragon.
Thanks!

-- Kerysh @ 07-15-2004

Camelot Herald: Adjustements to Pendragon
There've been some adjustments and additions made to the Pendragon Patch notes - read on:
Adjustments and Additions to Pendragon from Sanya Thomas

New siege strategy, "fire and forget" turret hit point adjustment (we're easing up 10%), and more:

===================================

Dark Age of Camelot
Test Version 1.70aq Release Notes
July 15, 2004

===================================

New Strategy For Sieges

A new ability for characters with little or no range capability has been added to New Frontiers: the ability to bind to a Keep Lord/Tower Captain.

This ability lets players of the supported classes "/recall" their corpses to the Lord/Captain's location after a death for a safe resurrection by a friendly resurrection class. To take advantage of this feature, a supported class must first right-click on the Lord/Captain and "bind" to him. This temporary bind lasts for 30 minutes, and a warning will be given to the player when the timer runs out, or when they are out of range of the keep/tower.

Classes that can use the "/recall" are: Armsman, Bard, Berserker, Blademaster, Champion, Cleric, Druid, Friar, Healer, Hero, Mercenary, Minstrel, Paladin, Reaver, Savage, Shaman, Skald, Thane, Valewalker, Warden, and Warrior.

NEW THINGS AND BUG FIXES

- Players are now worth Mordred style coin on regular servers in the case of RvR kills. This money will be automatically given to the killer or divided among the killer's group.

- Mesmerized or stunned players can no longer use hookpoints.

- Fixed an issue where monsters attacked by pets had no knowledge of the pet's controller's group. This should mean that monsters pulled with pets should follow the same rules they would follow if the pet's controller had pulled.

- The maximum range bonus given to archery attacks from elevation has been set to 500.

- The new animist aggro sharing between turrets and the main controlled turret now only works if the turret and main controlled are within 750 units of each other.

- The delve description for the master ability, Summon Wood, should now correctly print that it can be used to repair - not upgrade - keep doors.

- The character ability Flurry can once again only be used against enemy realm players, pets and guards.

- In light of Pendragon testing, we've decided to lessen the hitpoint reduction to Animist fire and forget turrets. The original reduction was 70%; the new value is 60%, which means that on Pendragon, turret hit points have been slightly increased. We'll test turrets at this level and make future adjustments as necessary.

NEW FRONTIERS NOTES

Monsters

- Nasher and the snowdon grims should no longer hide behind a zone boundary.

TRIALS OF ATLANTIS

Artifact Notes

- Aten's Shield encounter credit is now given to anyone within the group of a player who interacts with the correct treasure chest.

FOUNDATIONS NOTES

- Consignment Merchants in Hibernian Housing will now accept the Aberillan Market Return Token. Thanks Sanya!

-- Kerysh @ 07-15-2004

Camelot Herald: Two Afternoon Hot Fixes
Couple of Hot Fixes to advise you of,

Posted By: Sanya Thomas 2004-07-14 17:47:50

Because a day without hot fixes is a rainstorm with no rainbow. Or something.

NEW FRONTIERS NOTES

- The field trebuchet, field ballista, and field catapult placed by the Siegemasters in the Battlegrounds now have a minimum range.

CAMELOT CLASSIC WORLD NOTES

Item Notes

- The Dark Frozen Eviscerator (Midgard) should now be set to the appropriate level

Thanks Sanya!
