N-Query
Connections Has Nintendo said anything about the Game cube being able to connect with the new DS or will we have to wait till Nintendo's next system? Also will the newer more powerful DS games be playable thru the GBA adaptor that fits on the bottom of the GameCube? I'm guessing not. Matt responds: Hard to tell right now. You have to opposing philosophies. The first is that the DS will be the "third pillar" to GameCube and Game Boy Advance. This seems to suggest that all three will function as a family. And to this end we have seen GameCube-to-Game Boy Advance connectivity in the past. But the other, perhaps newer philosophy -- maybe even more of a realization than anything else, is that nobody seems to give a rat's ass about connectivity and Nintendo has recently downplayed it. At E3 2004 the company barely acknowledged connectivity between its console and handheld, in fact. Everything considered, I'm inclined to believe that the Big N will take a similar approach with the DS, meaning that it will not make connectivity a focus.
All of that noted, I have no confirmed, concrete details in regard to what Nintendo may or may not ultimately do in this area. Kaitos Hello, I've heard a lot about Baten Kaitos over the past few months, but I was never really interested until I saw the beautiful CG trailer on your E3 DVD. So my question is how many discs will Baten Kaitos span? If all the cutscenes are like that, the game must take up more than one, right? Unless of course, the CG opening is like the anime opening in Tales, and it's the only one like it in the game. If so, I blame Fran.
Matt responds: There are lots of full-motion video sequences in Baten Kaitos, not to mention voice work, and as such the game will span two GameCube Optical Discs. Pandora... Tomorrow? The second edition of Splinter Cell has been out for the Cube for a while now, and i haven't seen a review at the Gamecube site yet. Will we ever get one, or have you guys decided you did not need to review the game again (even though each incarnation of the game has different features.)?
Matt responds: The plan is to post our review on Wednesday. We have been at Ubisoft's mercy on the game. It did not send us a review copy and so we recently went out and purchased the GameCube version for ourselves. By the time you read this N-Query update, I will doubtless be hunkered in a dark room, plasma screen burning, surround sound turned all the way up, and playing through the title. I can tell you that based on what I've played so far the GCN build of Pandora Tomorrow is solid. Yes, it lacks a multiplayer mode, which is a big disappointment, naturally, but gamers interested solely in the single-player experience will likely be satisfied. Molly Is Molly Holly in WWE day of reckoning?
Matt responds: Yep. Fully playable.
TimeSplitters LAN Hey Matt, I finally watched the video interview for Time Splitters 3. I must say good job. Towards the end when you were asking about multiplayer I was thinking, "ask about the cube, ask about the cube!!" and then you pretty much demanded they put Lan in for it. That was awesome! A great justice for all cubers. I hope they listen to you and I can't wait to play TS3 on warp pipe! Thanks! ~Ralph
Matt responds: No problem. It was my pleasure. I loved TimeSplitters 2 and have always thought it played best on Nintendo's console -- I simply prefer the controller for first-person shooters. I'm not alone, either. A bunch of the guys at Free Radical Design favor the GameCube controller. I really hope that we get a LAN-mode in the GameCube version so that I can pummel and embarrass my office co-workers. I will make IGN overlord Peer Schneider bow down and kiss my feet after I slaughter him with my customized monkey killer. Oh, it would also be nice to try the game out over Warp Pipe. Eliminated I was wondering if there will be a Elimination Chamber Match in DoR. It will seem quite a disapointment if they don't. Because who cares about a Bra and Banties Match.Whippetttyydo! When I went to my friends house when Here Comes the pain came out we only played Royal Rumble or Chamber matches. We played Bra and panties once and it was really a big bombshell compared to the Chamber match. Please Answer I need to Know.
Matt responds: Sorry. No Elimination Chamber Match in the game.
