[edit]Borrowed from Classical Syriac [Term?], from Aramaic כָּהֲנָא (kāhănā), itself either borrowed from or cognate with Hebrew כֹּהֵן (kohén); compare also in Arabic كَاهِن (kāhin) and Old Armenian քահանայ (kʻahanay).
