Robert Pattinson Thought Matt Damon Was a 'Complete Psycho' When He Heard Him 'Screaming' to Prepare for The Odyssey

Robert Pattinson recalled a moment when he thought Matt Damon was "a complete psycho" before learning he was "screaming and screaming and screaming" to prepare for his role in The Odyssey.

The actor, who plays Antinous in this week's new Christopher Nolan movie, spoke about the incident during a recent video for MTV UK. He said he was worried that Damon, who plays Odysseus, was having a "really bad toilet experience" in his trailer before learning the actor had a legitimate reason for cranking up the volume.

"There's a thing, which Matt did, when we were shooting something, and he was in the trailer next to me, and he was making these noises in the trailer," Pattinson said. "He's such a nice guy, and I thought he was on the phone, and I'm like, 'He's a complete psycho.' Like, he's just screaming and screaming and screaming."

"I thought he was having a really bad toilet experience," Pattinson added with a laugh. As it turns out, Damon's screaming, which could also be heard by co-star Tom Holland, was the actor's attempt to rough up his voice.

"He was blowing his voice out just to sound older, and I was just like… seeing him on the mast, I'm like, 'You're really taking years off your life doing this.'"

Damon will bring his portrayal of Odysseus to screens across the world when The Odyssey premieres tomorrow, July 17. Early preview showings are also available as of today.

IGN gave Nolan's adaptation of Homer's Greek epic an 8/10 review. We said, "The Odyssey adapts Homer through a new eye that brings a sense of horror and existential angst to the story – and some humor too. It may not be a perfect movie, but it’s a pretty great moviegoing experience all the same."
